Hi, I've got an HTC wildfire (if that helps)

I was using my mobile internet and when I thought I was scrolling I appeared to click on a spam link and my phone immediately downloaded a file which took about 2 seconds so I couldn't cancel it or quickly turn off my data connection.

However, my phone is set to not install downloaded items not from the google play store.

I'm worried that whatever I may have clicked on is harmful to my phone, and because it hasn't been installed I can't physically seem to find the file on my phone and delete it (it was a weird string of numbers/letters)

Any advice or should I just restore my phone to factory settings? Sorry if this was a silly question, I don't know too much about getting viruses on mobiles!

Perhaps the file or whatever got downloaded is on your sd card under "downloads"
Do you have a file browser on your phone that you can look at the sd card contents?

Is your phone acting wonky after the download?

And no such thing as silly questions here my friend
