Default Samsung S2 JB - how do I get the volume control to work all volumes at once?

I just recently upgraded to JB on my S2. Before the update, when I used the side buttons on the phone to put it on vibrate only, nothing would make a sound. Now after the update, notifications still make a sound. I have to click on the settings and move that slider as well to turn it off. How do I get that back where I could put it on 'vibrate only' and all the sounds would stay silenced?

This should work for you. Use the down volume rocker to go to mute then tap the down rocker again. You'll see the mute icon change. Everything except media and gsmes volume will now be muted. Or you could just hold the down rocker down until the icon changes.

Pull down the notification bar and select the toggle for mute and vibrate

This doesn't do anything for me except change the RINGER volume. I still get notification sounds when it's set to mute or vibrate.
