Thanks very much for the video Kim. I ordered mine yesterday so I hope it will arrive at the end of next week.
One thing that worries me slightly is that there may be malware installed on there. Has this ever happened with any phone bought from EtoTalk? Or are they an honest company?
Looking forwards to getting my hands on my ZTE U960 now......
PS, how long did delivery take?
Does Google Navigation work? And flash player so I can watch football on it?
1. Rename the file to update.zip and put it on the sd-card.
2. Hold 'volume up' in and power up the phone. The phone will reboot in Recovery mode.
3. Select 'apply update from sdcard'. The U960 will update with new rom.
Etotalk has been kind to me so i don't understand why you all have problem with them.
Thank you, but that file is not a new rom, it's just the package with the google apps.. I have already got them working

Yes this is the way to install them, if the recovery is properly installed, which is not my case (problem #2 mentioned aboove)

They don't want to support me with the excuse that I'm not the person who purchased the phone, (although practically brand new my phone is second hand)

Hello,
This is the same link etotalk has send me this morning. This should solve my problems with the andriod market....
I haven't tried the installation jet, due t the fact that I need the phone right now for my work.

Yes, if your problem is just the market, this is all you need.
Yes they're used to sell free things, in this case it's somewhat fair because the work needed, but you can also buy some custom roms coming from various forums around the world.
Can you tell about the battery life of the phone? Dual antennas and nice big screen with only 1500mAh battery is scaring me off a bit..
Battery life is pretty good if you consider it's a dual sim: on the first days of usage I got, more or less, the same results I have my droid2 global with the extended battery more or less 8/10 h with 1h and half of calls some browsing with opera mobile and the data and push mail always on.
Back to my problems I ficed myself the recovery problem (flashed it with fasboot instead of the etotalk sw provided from the vendor)
I've also found two different upgraded roms B10 and B12 (my phone has the B08 version preinstalled)
I haven't tested them because that 115.com server is damn slow (at least from Italy), likely I'll need a couple of days to have the downloads finished.
If someone can get them faster than me, and place them on some western server (one of the few survived ones, I mean )would be very nice.
P.S. there's no need to decipher some cryptic Chinese web pages, just use jdownloader

I'm sorry for quoting myself, but after half day the downloads are still at 10/20%, if someone can get them faster would be VERY appreciated
I followed this thread with great interest. My choices are now limited to the Motorola XT532 and the ZTE-TU960. Two questions:
1) TU960: How is the speaker quality for making a phone call? My last Chinese dual sim phone worked well but was useless to make phone calls because I could barely hear the other person.
2) XT532: When using sim 2 for data (e.g. surfing the web) is sim 1 then also disabled or can you receive calls?
I have the Lenovo A60 since november. I bought it in a webshop in The Netherlands called rockstoreonline.eu
First I was not satisfied with it, because there was hardly a GSM-signal indoor or in the car. Making a call while driving was impossible and inside buildings nearly impossible. Also the phone had no Dutch language. Not a big problem, but since it's my native language I would have liked that.
For those reasons I purchased the Multilanguage 2.0 Android 2.3.5 ROM from Etotalk. This contains a GPS-fix and Dutch language. I had quite some problems with the USB-drivers to install the ROM, but the guys from Etotalk were very helpfull.
With the new ROM the phone works very good and I have Dutch language, Android Market, Google apps and all.
Only problem: I can't install Whatsapp but I can live with that since I don't use it very often.

The audio quality is a real strength of that ZTE phone.
Really better than my droid 2 global, which is already a very good phone looking at the audio quality.
It's loud and clear, no matter if you look at the front or rear speaker or at the BT quality.
Usually quality and loudness are mutually exclusive, it's not the case here.

That is funny, I'm using a Lenovo P70 in the Netherlands and have the same problem, Whatsapp does not show up in the market (Whatsapp wallpaper does) and installing it manually wil give a 'application not installed' message every time..
It is a limitation in the software, I installed a Spice MI350 rom and whatsapp installed without a problem (But reception was poor and camera did not work) From what I understand the limitation is somewhere in the build.prop file, installing a factory ROM and simply replacing the build file with a Spice MI350 one does not work, phone keeps restarting.. Will let you know if I get it working

But looks like the B12 was uploaded w/o the baseband because the Chinese users dont want to break the wcdma crack they did to use the phone in wcdma in their country
The B10 file is bigger and I hope should be complete with all the partition images needed (just a guess due to the language barrier).
So the B12 version is not needed anymore, but the b10 one could be helpful.
Given the recent megaupload tragedy, the hosting sites available are all new for me, I tried datafilehost.com and it works but its limited to 100MB so the file must be splitted with winrar.

In my case, whatsapp shows up in the market, but after installing I get a message "gedeelde bibliotheek ontbreekt" and I'm not able to open it. Please let me know if you have a solution.
Yes, if your problem is just the market, this is all you need.
(assuming that your recovery is working)
And there starts my second problem.
I tried to use the instructions form etotalk:
1. Download the zip file, and put the update.zip on the sd card gapps-2.3-u960-signed.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download 2. root your phone by root.rar.
upzip it to a folder, run root after you connect your phone to your pc. (debug mode must be turned on)
3. upzip recovery.rar and run it after you connect your phone to your pc.
4. press volume up + power and hold for 10 seconds till the photo logo shows, the phone must be completely off to get into recovery mode
5. select the xxx.zip to update (the downloaded zip file gapps-23-u960-signed.zip)
8. choose the zip to press "power key" to confirm, volume up and down to select.
9. when upload completed, restart.
I'm just a newbee on the andriod system and I don't know how to find/use "root.rar" an d the "recovery.rar".
I asked Etotalk for further instruction, however I haven't recieved them jet.
Sorry, but if your phone is already rooted and witn the market installed, why you`re asking for root ?
Oh, sorry my remark wasn't completly clear.
When I bought this phone I asked them to root the phone and install the requested items...and they did that!
But, I have problems to get the market working.
A factory reset and reconnecting app's to my own google account didn't work.
The answer of etotalk was the earliar mentioned software link with instruction to root the phone... (again????)
Well I'm just a complete nitwit on adriod.
And at this moment I still haven't recieved further instruction from etotalk and therefor not able to install the new software....
Can you post any reviews when you successfully install this rom? Thanks
The rom doesent fix the 128K SIM problem.
Btw this very file comes w/o the boot image or any other partition's image, just the system.
It is already rooted and has some variations on the color scheme, which similar to the motorola one using shades of gray instead of black and white for menus and UI elements..
The top bar is modded to show the battery percentage and has different icons for signal strength indication.
It has an additiona dialer and some sw preinstalled, it has also a "WCDMA unlock" menu, meant for chinese users.
So no big changes V.S. the b08 rom. And no definite answer to my problem, I need a clean full rom to see if something is really changed, not just an updated system.

Keenly awaiting feedback on XT532
Thanks in advance
It's an XT531 with two SIMs, most of the phone is unchanged, just refer to the 531 reviews and you will miss just the power consumption considerations, and the dual sim management part..
Greeting everyone!
I've ordered ZTE U960 and now just waiting when it will be delivered to me 8).
Can someone upload 2 or 3 min video review of this phone. Maybe how it looks like in hands, system loading and more.
Almost forgot to ask - what picture quality does U960 camera make? Any examples?
Can you please make a video how it looks like in hands and view from all sides?
I dont have any decent video camera, and at the moment I'm fighting to see if I can solve the vodafone sim problem, so I have little time to make a decent video.
BTW it's a 4.3 inch phone its beavior in the hand not really different than any 4.3 inch well known device, say the samsung galaxy SII

Now I see that was f*cked up by etotalk. 2nd battery and desk charger should be already in the box. Etotalk is asking for additional money. Bastards! 8)
Really hope that my phone is in ideal condition.

Hi all dualsim maniacs! After one day using:
+ it really fits in hand, fabrication is excellent
+ metal front side is decent
+ display is very well responsive and accurate (in comparison with FET T8888)
+ faster CPU makes environment really quick
+ no problem with google apps, google market, all are in english
+ quick recharge with charger
+ really good battery life and device consumption (4174 mV by now and still growing) - more in detail, my first recharge yesterday after opening box and using for 4 hours before recharge, wifi switched all day (cca from 4 PM when fully first time recharged), and 3g switched on during night, I was at 30% at 10AM next day
+ no problem with internet connection vanishing when wifi is on and phone is in sleeping mode
+ fast and accurate GPS
+ nice pictures from camera (FET T8888 is also good in that)
- FET users may be little disappointed with lower resolution and display clarity, it is other league , but i found myself to be different end user group, FET T8888 display is awesome!!
- pitty i do not have czech environment in android
- slower recharge with pc usb (but it is common problem with computers )
- quite small power button for my fingers, but when I use thumb then it is OK
Overall, it is a very good phone for me, in comparison with FET T8888, it is much more smoother handling with it. I will keep you informed.
Take care!
Update:
+ radio is good
+ good sound quality (3,5 mm jack)
+ good loud speaker quality
+ good speaker quality

Thank you very much polvo. Pleased to hear the + feedback. Please confirm the question from hidefault123.
It seems XT532 and U960 are two reasonable options - till Galaxy Y duo is launched. I am not too keen on U960 as it is too big for me and though am used to HTC Desire screen, I can live with 3.5" of XT532.
I am all the more inclined to buy XT532 now. Feedback from others would be great!
This is a full dual radio phone, not a cheap mtk based oone.
No problem receiving two call at the same time, no problem receiving a call during the data transfer.
According to previous posts the XT532 is a dual standby phone, while making a call with one sim the other sim looses connection (the big cross).
I was excited about the ZTE U960 because it was the first dual "active" dual sim 3G smartphone I encountered...
According to previous posts the XT532 is a dual standby phone, while making a call with one sim the other sim looses connection (the big cross).
Sorry I thought you was speaking about the ZTE, then I corrected quickly my message.
Unfortunately not quickly enough.
BTW, as far as I know, only the dual standby based on the MTK CPUs are affected by that annoying problem.
I asked to some XT532 owners to confirm that the SIM 2 is available during the data transfer over SIM1, before buying the ZTE, but no one replied to my question.
