Question Data migration options for Samsung gs2 to gs4 (both Tmobile)?

The primary thing I'm seeking is to transfer app data from a lot of games from my Galaxy s2 (os 2.3.6) to my Galaxy s4 (os 4.2.2)

I'm looking for something that's easiest (1-click or "plug and play" level simplicity really), and willing to pay up to $5 for a good fit there (if it costs more, I'd like to consider it anyways). Otherwise, we do it the old fashioned way with tutorials and scouring for info.
I've researched some options, but would like to hear more suggestions....

1) MyBackup Pro
research: Won't work.
Doesn't transfer App data. Looking at the description, I made a mistake and thought "system data" was "app data". I've already asked if the dev will grant me a refund for the premium version. Otherwise, lesson learned with your wallet

2) Helium (premium)
research: probably won't work
My gs2 is still on Gingerbread, and this only works on 4.x (ICS) or higher. There appears to be a desktop component that may be a way of getting around incompatibility with a 2.36 os.

3) direct transfer
research: may work
I don't know if that sticky thread on transferring data between an And and PC works for 2.3.6, but if I can figure out where save data for apps are and where they should go on And 4.2.2, this should be more work, but also more rewarding

4) contact Samsung to see if they have any solutions
research: no info
Still looking into this took

Anything else?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I'm aware, nearly all the SGS2 variants should have had the ICS Upgrade?

Is there no OTA/Update via Kies available for the SGS2?

Would you be willing to root the SGS2? Which variant do you have (I presume T-Mobile)?

I tapped on upgrade in the settings menu. All it got me was 2.3.4 to 2.3.6. If there was some grander gesture I was supposed to do, then I obviously missed it.

Did a search and no. Plus, AFAIK, Kies only deals with media (pics, music, and videos)... it doesn't touch app data.

Yes, it's Tmobile. I edited the topic title to reflect that too.

On one hand, it's mostly game save data... nothing critical. I could just go without the transfer, but OTOH, I already sunk all that time into those games. I'll consider rooting the gs2.

According to threads in the Galaxy S2 - T-Mobile section, the SGH-T989 has received an update to JB 4.1.2.

Samsung themselves introduced a software tool to ease data migration to the S4 from other smartphones. Check out Smart Switch, but note that you'll need to backup your S2 using Kies in any case.
