Surprised HTC devices official FroYo update second half 2010!

Well I "fake" contacted HTC. I claimed to have an HTC desire who has problem with phone memory, which isn't enough for installing apps, I got a reply!

Well there was a chance I was going to buy the desire, but seeing the late release of FroYo, I'm going to get a Nexus One.

Let's hope that HTC lights a fire under their developers so that we can get a quicker update to 2.2 than what it's been taking them to send out previous updates! I love Sense and all, but I do certainly hate having to wait for a longer period of time before I'm able to get ahold of the newest OS version

Froyo will be the first Android version, that brings changes that really matter (maybe the Bluetooth stack, that was introduced in 2.1 was quite important for some of us, other than that, they were only cosmetic changes all the time).
I cannot wait, when it is on my phone.

Anyways this excites me. I love sense on my nexus, and though I love stock I will always miss sense.

when HTC legend users will get Froyo? i am worried about the future of Legend. I just bought it thinking HTC will upgrade it. But it seems that HTC is giving more attention to ultra high end phones.

Not to sound ignorant or beat a dead horse. But....I'm gonna ask anyway.

Any chance anybody has a hypothesis about the Eris running Froyo? Or should I just sell my leaked v3 on C-List and save up for an Incredible.

I seem to remember hearing/ seeing that the Desire's internet won't work in the US though can't remember where I heard it. Go for that Evo 4G, looks siick. Pity it's not available here in the UK, would've got that over my Legend

I stumbled across this article today:

Updated HTC Desire Ready To Compete Google Nexus one Contract - UK Press Releases - UK PR and Articles

I've also seen the 23 June date mentioned somewhere else, but can't think where now.

no mention of the Legend though really annoying that. If they announce they won't update the Legend I might try to part exchange it with a Desire

Still no official sources though - just the same old rumours being posted up by lazy journos.

shame.

If the Desire gets FroYo on the 23rd, I'll eat my own sh1te.

I think the Incredible may be a step up from the Desire, which is a really great phone, but does not include the 8mp camera & 8gb of internal storage plus VZW's amazing network.

Ghotiphish3 - I would say sell your Eris(VZW does not seem to care about it anymore) and get the Inc, it is the best phone I've had and I've had every smartphone on VZW(excepts blackberries). You will not be dissapointed.

Default Did I just get an update?

Hi all

I got a software update today. It looked liek it was the 2.2 (froyo) update. It took a long time to download and install. The firmware number matched a number I was shown (as froyo), yet there seems to be no change on my phone, no additional menus, no move app tp sd card... did anyone else get an update like this (it was about 27MB)

The following was on the HTC website. I don't think it is Froyo as that is 2.2. Still unable to get it on my Desire as I've been checking.

"Update HTC Legend and Desire Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
In our commitment to providing you with the best user experience, we are pushing out a new firmware update to your phone. Your phone will receive a notification of this update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software Number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software information> Software number). The new software number after the update will be 1.31.405.4 on HTC Legend and 1.21.405.2 on HTC Desire. Note:We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. For any questions, please contact us via http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx"

This is not Froyo. Froyo is version 2.2.

I just read that 2.2 is even heavier on the battery. As my Desire only lasts a day or so anyway on a charge, that's disappointing news...

aah.. I've 2.2 installed on my N1 (leaked version). I didn't find it heavy on battery. It's running smooth without eating much battery. what made you think that?

mt3g is going to get froyo afaik. i have read on many websites about it.
the thing i am not understanding is why the hell HTC is not willing to upgrade LEgend if they are willing to update mt3g. both have same specs.
