Angry How to make Evo stop waking up the dead with every text message...

I picked up the Sprint HTC Evo. This is my first andriod phone and it's a big upgrade from the windows based HTC Touch Pro that I used to put up with. However, every single notification makes a massive, loud, BEEEEEEEP!!!! And I can't figure out how to turn the volume down on it, except to put the phone in vibrate mode. Windows had two volumes: one for system, and one for the ringer. That made a lot of sense.

I think my co-workers are going to get really angry with me if I don't figure this out soon. At first, it was just text messages, but now it's facebook and everything else. Can someone please tell me how to shutup this dumb robot?

I'm not sure what info I need to give you about this, but it's the launch version of the Evo, I did not change anything related to this problem - still using the default applications and such.

Thanks.

I had the same problem. In audio settings you can adjust your notifications volume to be different from the phone ringer volume. I'm going to look into the audio manager as well.

I tried playing with those settings too, but I could not get the notifications volume to change at all. I dunno, maybe I didn't spend enough time with it, but it just seems a lot harder than it should be. With as much stuff as Google did right with Andriod, they really have messed up quite a few things too. No decent notepad, no office app, settings hard to understand and configure, the keyboard pops up automatically when I don't want it to - and I can't seem to configure that either... etc.

It's still a LOT better than windows 6.1 was, though.

There is a box with a check mark in it that if checked, it makes your notifications the same volume as your phone ringer. If you uncheck the box, you should be able to adjust the notification volume seperately.
