The Eris encodes them to .3gp (Mpeg4/AMR). Windows Media Player doesn't understand this format. So you need to convert them to a format it does understand.
I haven't done it though, so I have no clue on what program you should use that works. HTC phones use the horrible AMR format which is very finicky on what it works on.
