Default Syncing and converting music for HTC Hero?

Hi

I got my HTC Hero on three UK network a week ago and I love it!!! Anyway I have pretty much sorted it all out but have a slight problem when it comes to music.

I currently have 5 gigs worth of songs I would like to transfer but only a 2 gig memory card. Using WMP11 I converted them to 64kbps and synced perfectly but then I realised that WMP had converted my mp3s to WMAs. For the first few minutes it would work fine on the hero but then it would suddenly stop and no more music would play. I also noticed that the temperature would usually jump from 27.1 to 44.2 while the music was playing.

All in all my question is.... are there any free programs that will convert mp3s to lower bitrates which are still mp3 format and sync them to my HTC hero?

Thank you for your time

H there chunkylover53,

Welcome aboard dude!

You can get a media player for android that plays wmv files here (free but in beta):

arcMedia - Android app on AppBrain

to get a free convertor for wma or wmv go here from Leawo (free):

WMV Converter & WMV to AVI Converter- convert WMV to AVI for editing?

Hope this helps!

Let me know buddy,

Cheers

Hi mate

Thanks for the swift reply but I still got the problem on my hands. The fact is that playing WMA files makes the phone overheat hence the speaker stops working as far as im concerned. Plus I would want to sync the phone therefore it would have to convert it on the fly as opposed to searching for the new files and converting them etc.

Sorry for being so picky but if there are any other programs please let me know

Whoops, I forgot to mention I have tried doubletwist, mediamonkey and WMP.

The problem with doubletwist is the fact that it won't convert on the go as far as I can see. Perhaps I am wrong?

Thanks mate

Hi

Thanks but it doesn't seem to convert the MP3s to a lower bitrate unfortunatly.

Maybe I am just better of getting a bigger memory card ?

Edit: I think the max the hero supports is 8gb =/

Hmm,

Damn this is more hard than i thought...

Why not just convert the bitrate of the songs through windows media player and then convert the tracks to mp3?

Use this software maybe?

Free WMA to MP3 Converter - Freeware convert WMA to MP3.

Hmm i am out of options here....

Can anyone else contribute to this plz?

Sorry man i don't actually know....
