Work is still underway on an Android version of VLC Media Player, the open source, cross-platform media player that plays just about any kind of file you throw at it, and a beta is expected within a month or two.

There are a number of android video players that play .flv such as RockPlayer or vitalPlayer.
Unfortunately, no .flv player has proper Playlist Management. That why I often need to switch to WM6.5 to use CorePlayer, on my HTC HD2. Nothing in android is half as good as CorePlayer (at least for now that vlc hasn't yet been released).
I hope VLC player will contains a few features that I need. - .flv, .mp4 (h.264) supports
- Playlist with shuffle/repeat
- Playlist can add/edit multiple files easily. (It should be able to add all video in a folder/subfolder) - Frame skipping
- Full screen controls, play, pause, fwd, bkwd, vol
I'm looking forward to testing any pre-released version of vlc-player android.

For some weird reason, RockPlayer won't play videos that are in my Videos folder. And one of those videos can't be played in the Gallery. Should I try another video player? Sorry for the slightly off-topic post
Hello All,
Just recently picked up an HTC Desire after using my iPhone 3G for a while. I was using Air Video to stream video to my iPhone. So far I have not been able to find any kind of suitable replacement.
Is there a video player that can use Wifi to play video from a folder on a LAN device? I'm not looking for internet access, but inTRAnet (LAN) would be great.
Hi dmoder66, thanks for the tip, it is an excellent player, now it is very much available in the android market. I installed in OlivePad and it rocks! Thanks!
