I can't get it to sync! i have tried all the tips on here. hit refresh on devices in wmp 12, upgrade htc sync, upgraded software on the Evo itself. my music folder on my sd card is in the root of the sd card and is labeled Music.

i don't know what i am doing wrong or what to do

any help would be appreciated.

Dont sync with media player. Just drag and drop the files you want to the music folder on the sd card.
