I recently installed Meridian Player pro. Works ok for most stuff, but I am having trouble with the audiobook tab.
I have the tab and creaded an audiobooks folder with the books in subfolders, but it won't read the files. I get a media not found error. Meridian will find the book titles. I have tried .mp3 and .m4a and same results for both.
Anyone else with Meridian have this problem? It would be 5 star app if I could get this piece working.
I think I figured it out. I removed the AudioBook Folder I created and let Meridian create it. Then I moved my "book" folders over. It is working correctly now. Great Player.
Does the Hero have a different stock player than the other phones? I keep seeing complaints about not being able to browse by genre in the stock player, but I can do that in the stock player on my Hero....
Quick question about Meridian and audiobooks. A couple of features I find essential in audiobook players is being able to quickly go back about 10-15 seconds in the playback at teh tap of a button. Will it do that?
Also, will it automatically skip back a bit after returning from a phone call?
I paid for Act1, does what its supposed to do. I put videos in doubletwist and they come out the other end 100% working (including x264 muxed in mkv containers).
Probably is a free app out there thats just as good but I tried a couple they sucked, got lazy. These easy click to buy online market portals are incredible money sinks lol (app store, itunes store etc.)
I would also suggest checking out Zimly media player. I won't pass judgement on the player (because I am one of the devs working on it). But I will say this... Zimly might not be the best player... yet. But we can be, and we want to be. Plus the developers are nice and we work our asses off trying to make Zimly better.
As for other players... I have tried most of the other players including Cubed, Rockon, Mixzing, Tunewiki, Meridian. Hell that was the reason I wanted to build Zimly in the first place... the only one I would recommend from that list is Tunewiki. Cubed has an interesting interface... but its not very functional... it's like trying to browse your music using only Coverflow (on iTunes... looks nice but not very convenient).
Anyway... check out the others... and of course check out Zimly. Zimly is free so you don't lose anything by downloading it. And leave feedback please. It is the only way we can make it better.

I got a new XPeria X10i phone, i need to get a DVD video player which will support the Android os/ that's what is on my phone, please some one help me to get the best dvd player for my Xperia X10i phone !!!
I also like to know which all application type did the XPeria X10i supports !!! and where can i find the supporting applications.... please help with request!!
I wanted to make sure everyone knew of this cool feature of Meridian.
On my iPhone I used PlaySafe. It was a program that loaded my tunes up and had only one function: You swipe the screen left and right to advance tracks. I connect my phone to my car's audio system so I can listen to far more music, and I didn't have to hunt for the next button and concentrate on driving.
If you enable gestures in Meridian you can swipe down on the artwork to advance and swipe up to go to the previous track. This is quite nice as I can now have music playing on my phone and Waze navigation running at the same time without being a distracted driver.
I could look past it's UI if it worked, but it just lags then freezes up.
Anybody knows of a player that plays divx/xvid and does not lagg?
Yxflash is almost there, but not quite...
I'm looking for a media player with an equalizer for my mp3's. Have tried Astro Player Beta but can't say I'm overly impressed with the sound with or without the equalizer.
Any other player you guys would recommend from experience for my X10.

Outside of Astro Player I have not been able to find a player with an equalizer yet. And I'm with you... not too impressed with the quality.
Just FYI, we just began development on an equalizer for Zimly but at this point its not looking like an easy project because there doesn't seem to be any APIs to adjust the levels so we are building something from scratch. Will keep you posted on the progress if you are interested.

Sounds interesting. Have tried searching for it on marketplace and by using the barcode scanner on your website but it can't be found.
Can you help, and yes please keep me posted on the progress as us android users need a good music player with equalizer

Dear drebabels,
Thank you for your hard work. I'm very excited to see another promising media player and a developer like you who's open for feedback.
I left feedback, and would urge everybody to review my suggestions and vote for them.

Thanks for the feedback... and yes please keep it coming. The more we hear from you all... the better we can make Zimly.

Yeah... sorry about that. I think by next early month we should have support for 1.6. Of course it really depends on a few things, but I'm pretty confident we can do this by then.
Only seems to support wmv and 3gp files, so that's no good. I want just ONE player that supports avi, mpeg, wmv, 3gp and flv formats.
Unfortunately this is an Android limitation-ish. And although it's not impossible to support other formats... at this point it won't be easy for any developer to build this in because they have to build it from scratch using the NDK... same actually applies to the equalizer which is also probably why the WithEQ player costs so much.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for Froyo and see what new goodies Google brings all of us in regards to media.

Ehh? I use yxflash for a while now and it plays AVi, MPEG/2/4/x.264/Flash/DivX/xvid/WMV, PSP and iPod codecs/formats.
It's not perfect but far the most advanced video player (for us, Mediascape users no need for audio stuff :P) on the market so far - try it:
I have a Samsung Moment with the official 2.1 update. Has anyone found a media player yet that will play the videos that used to work in 1.5 but no longer work in 2.1? It seems to be AVI videos. Not sure why they would work in one build but not the other. Unless they were "accidentally" supported in 1.5. I know yxplayer will play them but it is very unreliable for me. Video freezes after 5 minutes or less and has to restarted.

I liked to a file above that will play AVI, etc. I know the user below me said it froze up, but I have not experienced that problem unless I try to play a big movie (like over a GB) that is an AVI. All of the TV shows, etc I have tried have worked just fine (xvid)...

Are you talking about the Wuzenhua player? Because I've tried that one also, on 1.5 and 2.1 and on both the video freezes immediately, especially when I try to rotate the phone. If the video does play at all there is almost always no sound. Other issues I can't think of right now. But yea, it's pretty much crap for me for some reason. Too bad because it seems to be working for so many people.
I have concerns about paying for an app outside of the Marketplace? How was the purchase handled for you?
TBH haven't bought yet... there are few xvids that are a bit choppy even though they played fine on my old WinMo phone (half the CPU, quarter of the memory), as soon as he fixes it I'll buy it.
Until then it's going back to file list and restarting the same video after X minutes - though it continues from where it quit, thankfully.
What's so special about audio books? Mine are all just mp3 files. I don't have an Android yet - waiting for the T-Mo summer announcements. I listen to them on my Nokia phone just fine. It even has the "go back or forward" functions by just holding down the back or forward button.

Its a well laid out player, with good features. It really needs that EQ option for listening through headphones etc.
Look forward to an update soon
I have a music video uploaded to my phone. The resolution is quite high but can't quite find out the size on my PC. I believe it's 720P. I tried using my default player on my phone. No luck playing the video! It tells me "can't play video". Then I tried Meridian and YXflash players and still no luck! What could potentially be the problem here? Any ideas would be much appreciated!!!

If it is an AVI file you may be out of luck as i don't think there is a player that can handle that at the moment. Need to convert it to MP4 using handbrake or another encoder
Anyone know how to get a 3g2 video file to play on the droid? I have video, but the sound is not playing (yes, I've checked to make sure audio levels are not at zero).
It's a video from my old phone, and the files play through Quicktime on my home PC's.
Trying to play a video on my Droid. Its an mp4 and the audio is clear but I am no getting any video. I've tried a variety of media players but I'm thinking its not their fault, any and all help would be appreciated.

Just tried yxplayer on the EVO with a 720p MP4 file. Will not play with either ac3 or aac audio. Just says cannot play file. So far, it works no better than the built in video player on the EVO.
I would PAY for a proper working video player for the EVO that actually works for 720p video. Preferrably in mp4 format.
I also had problems playing 720p movies on the EVO...love the phone btw. After some research I discovered that it does not play files that are over 2 Gig. I use tmpgenc so I used that to convert a 7 gig movie in mkv format to mp4 format and decreased the bitrate to 1500. That yielded a 1.83 gig file that played and looked flawless. The quality and smoothness of the playback was butter. Of course I've used Tmpgenc for years and actually paid for it then. If anyone else uses tmpgenc and is having a problem I saved the a template just for that purpose and can upload if wanted. Hope this helps...
