What/how do I go about making a library with Playlists for the music?
I have playlists in iTunes, I dont mind replicating them one time and using a new player, however I am trying to toss my iPod out the window with my new G1...
I tried the iTunes sourcefourge sync app and its just some lame file copy program...
I wont contribute to a solution, but I will gripe and agree that playlist management is a beyotch. In a perfect world there would be a GoogleApp that sync'd playlists much like your contacts and calendars are sync'd.
From what I can tell, the apps (WMP/iTunes/etc) just treat the phone as an SD card (obviously), so they don't sync over their playlists as well. It's a bummer, too.
I was hoping a more robust MP3 player (iPhone like, with large cover-art/etc) would have been out by now with maybe a better playlist manager.
one workaround that i go about is to create the playlist in itunes, which i then sync on doubletwist, and then import the playlist from there. only real viable solution i can see at the moment. the issue is that removing the playlist becomes a challenge.
You might consider trying my app BlueMuze (link in sig), the free version has all the playlist management stuff fully functional.
I got an email from a guy saying how that's what he used it for and he used PowerAmp for his main player heh , and I just added support for backup and restore of playlists (beta).
Just note: this is not a sync app or a music player but people have told me it works well for playlist managment, so I thought I would mention it. Feel free to use it or not as you wish. And of course feel free to email me any feature requests/issues
Edit: oh wow this is an old thread heh. Sorry I guess this suggestion is a bit out of place.
What I did was make a folder on my sd card named music. I pasted ALL songs in 7 playlists from iTunes into the music folder. Not in any particular order. I then went back to iTunes and right clicked on one of the 7 playlists, clicked on export and saved it as a .m3u into the same music folder. I did this for all seven playlists.
So, in my music folder, I have all this single songs PLUS I have the 7 .m3u playlists.
But probably a better way to do it is.....
In iTunes, I have my playlists titled... REMIX 1, REMIX 2, REMIX 3, etc. In the GENRE, I put REMIX 1 for remix 1 playlist, etc. So that when I use my music player on my phone. (I'm using PowerAmp but most players will work) I just list my songs by genre and each playlist shows up. Hope that makes sense.
Move all music to SD card with computer link
Open Music app
Select Songs (or Artists etc)
touch and hold (like delete) a song
Menu comes up - select add to Playlist
Then new
Enter name of playlist
Select another song (artist is a quick way)
select by holding and then add to existing playlist or make another
dudes, i downloaded winamp. it allows us to enquene an entire folder as our current playlist, just find the option named 'folders'. Hope this helps u....
