At the moment, am using Winamp. I've used Songbird, but I find the interface a bit clunky, in my opinion. I've tried doubleTwist, but had a problem with a song's music tag... now fixed, but the app seems similar to Winamp. I've tried Realplayer, but it kept on dragging in the 'Facebook pop' sound, and it was annoying me, lol.
Can anyone recommend any good music player apps, and give their opinion on the ones I've used? Would be a great help.
I am liking PowerAMP, but it isn't free. You can download the trial and see if you like it. It is really cheap if you want to buy it (about $5). I don't know any free ones that do what I like (divide songs into folders instead of by artist or album).
Device(s): HTC Desire, dGB, S-OFF. HTC One X. (rooted stock)

+1 for poweramp, best $5 you'll ever spend on an app. Some really decent apps like this, you just have to bite the bullet and pay for i'm afraid. Mort player or 3 cubed are very good for free apps.

Thanks.
Just pay for a decent one and support the developers Apps are not that expensive...
My MP3s are extensive and I'm a musician. I just bought a Samsung Admire & joined MetroPCS. I want to import 20GB of my MP3s to a 32GB card SD card and use them as a library when I need to remember certain lyrics, this is what I did with my Blackberry. The built in player with the Blackberry was pretty slow but did a decent job. I'm not so interested in a pretty ap, just good functioning of the player & if a player that also plays FLAC is also available, that would be great.
If there's one that allows the slowing of a tune & keeps the pitch, that would be a big help. I use a program; amazingslowdowner with my computer to do this but it would be good to have that with a player as well.
Any suggestions to a great player and maybe one that does those extras?
You can upload 20,000 songs (without regard for size) to the google music player and stream all of the music. You can make your favorites available offline and not worry about having a network available. I've been using it quite a bit and it's pretty solid.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I'd rather keep them on the phone, it would take so long to upload 20 GB of MP3 to the cloud. I'm just wanting to have them on the SD.
See you're in Boston, I'm heading to Framingham right now for the Bluegrass festival at the Sheraton.

If I may latch on to this thread please, I only need a simple music player but I have searched this forum together with many reviews and cannot find one to suit me. I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest an app with the following please:
1. Playlists which do not just repeat the first track
2. Ability to shuffle playlists
3. Album art
4. Lyrics displayed (As track plays would be great but I don’t know if this is possible?)
5. No adverts
6. No ability for app to make phone calls or use camera (as Cloudskipper does)
7. Ability to sync music and playlists with PC useful but not essential

That's asking alot for a free app that does all that.
Been testing a lot of Free Apps lately mainly because I am looking for widgets that fit my current theme and I settled for MixZing for now because of a nice combination of music quality and nice interface. I had WinAmp a close second among free players but the minimalistic design of MixZing's widgets won me over. I do hate the ads that pop up for 5 seconds every now and then in the app, but I'll be controlling the music primarily from the widget anyway.

You are right. MixZing and WinAmp are the best free music players. I also use MixZing Media player now.
