Default How do I know when I'm not online?

Do I cease to be online when I go back to my main menu? How can I be sure? Very new to the world of smartphones.

No...I control my network by adding both the 'wifi' and 'mobile net' widgets to my home screen then using them as and when needed. You can see when online as they have a green light. This is a very basic way and am sure you will get ideas from others.
