I am on a three-week visit to Beijing, China for work and want to access my email, Google maps etc on My Samsung Galaxy without paying roaming fees. I unlocked my phone, bought a Chinese SIM card and I can make and receive telephone calls and can browse the internet. However I cannot access my Outlook email nor can I get Google maps etc. that needs a data connection to work. My email just ignores me (happens with both my official outlook and yahoo, so it is not something to do with my work blocking access). I also cannot log onto my Google account (Could be because of issues between Google and China).
I would like to have access to my email and be able to use Google maps. I know that other people have used Google maps in China. Any ideas?
