Default mVideoPlayer - Does it really play M4V?

mVideoPlayer says that it can play M4V video files...kind of like the M4V movies and TV shows I have in my iTunes library. Is this possible even with DRM?

Also, what is DIVX (sp?) support? I have absolutely no clue.

Where did you read something about DivX? This codec is not included in android, thus no media player will support it by now.

No sorry divx isn't supported at all, they guy in the comments probably had a Samsung Spica which have inbuilt codecs for divx, no other phones at the moment have this. About the m4v, well the video has to be encoded using the H.264 codec, pretty much the same as mp4 movie except the container so you can rather use mp4. :P

Have you encoded your video using correct settings? Video cedec should be H.264 and resolution below 480x352 I think. I recommend you to use HandBrake to do this, you can download it from here HandBrake elect the iPhone profile and it should work fine. Good luck.

No, unfortunately, you can't play DRMed video on Android

DivX is a codec which is a portmanteau for coder-decoder (I think Wikipedia can explain this better than me).

I mean, nobody *wants* DRM. At least I sure don't. But I hear ya. We definitely need a provider of movies and TV shows in Android-compatible format. And that vendor will implement some form of DRM most likely. My hope is on Amazon (Apple iTunes won't do us the favor, that's for sure).

Why don't we want DRM? I wouldn't mind some movies, TV shows, and other content for Android. I wouldn't mind it fast, either.

DRM is digital right media or something like that.. its a pain in the ass. ever try to load a song downloaded from some elses itunes. or say i have a movie, and it has DRM, i cant give it to you to watch. Even though i could buy the physical movie and let you borrow it, DRM wont allow the "sharing" of digital media. at least not legally, sure theres ways around it, like burning music to an cd and back, but its still a pain
