Default Google Music improvement suggestions

It seems to me like Google is pretty good about listening to consumer's demands when it comes to their products, so I thought I would throw out a few ideas for things that Google should change on the Music app for Android.

#1: PLEASE give us a good EQ with 10 or more bands. Even 8 would be sufficient, but the current 5-band GB EQ just doesn't give us enough options. PowerAmp has a 10-band EQ that is totally killer.

#2: It seems to me like most people would like the ability to shuffle individual playlists, rather than all the songs on their phone. Please give us that option.

#3: Another awesome feature on PowerAmp is the ability to automatically start playing music when headphones are plugged in.

The new Google Music is such a cool app and idea that it almost pains me not to use it. I'm sure I'm not the only one with ideas on how to make it more useful for us music aficionados.

I'd like the option of viewing playlists and mixes in "album" or "artist" view (on a PC), showing album art. I don't think my PC, phone, or tablet is "worthy" of using an equalizer, so I don't really care about that. But maybe a few built in choices would be nice (rock, jazz, classical...)

This may sound like a dumb question, but why don't you just use PowerAmp?

Google music allows you to stream music. Pretty sure poweramp doesn't.

Ah, that makes sense. I guess I just am used to using my own NAS/Streaming server stuff. Thanks

That's one of those things that's really a bummer about GoogleMusic I guess, they should release an API for accessing a user's streaming library.

I have found one issue so far. Albums with the same name, but by different artists, get all the songs from all the albums lumped together under each album. Example: I loaded three different "Greatest Hits" albums from three different groups, and all three have all the songs from all the albums.

Also, is there a way to upload CD's directly to GM? I hate having to go through iTunes or something else first.

I think Music Manger through a PC will let you do this. I didn't like GM and had it uninstalled for a long while, but thought I'd try it again after the recent update. I like all the free songs they gave me. I am using it more (on my PC), and it seems to sync much better. My playlists didn't always come up on my phone, and they seem to now.

I am using PowerAmp currently, but I like the layout and UI of Google Music better (especially on my tablet; they have a different layout for Honeycomb) and I like the idea of streaming, even though I don't know how much I would actually use it. Plus, since Google Music is probably going to be part of the standard Gapps folder, I'd rather not have multiple apps that do the same thing.

to the OP, to shuffle a playlist touch the little triangle thing on the playlist and hit play all. Once the first song starts to play touch the albumart to take it to the details screen. On the bottom left corner is the shuffle button which will just shuffle that playlist.

I had Google music on my phone for a day. It sucks horribly so i removed it. First of all, it is a DATA HOG. I am unlimited but it kills my phone multitasking ability, bogs it down, and cuts out all the time on 3G. I dont like leaving my PC on at home so it's useless, and there's NO FREE music to stream as they advertise. Paid only.

Crap app... uninstalled. Google fail..

I'd just like a better widget, personally. The current one is too plain, and lacking. I'd like to be able to see a mini cover art, and maybe have another button or two. I've heard the widget actually is different on Honeycomb; if that's true, why can't they change it for phones, as well? Or at the very least, give a few options for the type of widget (i.e., the current plain one, a bigger one with more stuff on it, etc.).

I just starting using GM within the last week. So far I really like it. You can get free music from the Android Market. I would like to see some modification to the small widget like showing cover art and making the background transparent.

The widget is pretty much the same on Honeycomb. No extra options or goodies. However, the overall UI is different on HC, and much better suited for a large screen.

Honestly, I don't like this function.

I like it, but it can be turned off on PA. I use my phone for music in my car, so I like just being able to plug it in and put it in the holder.

Here are my ideas

1) Enhance the Shuffle algorithm so out of 500 songs, I don't hear the same one in an hour 3 times.
2) Give the ability to reset play count

I may be incorrect, but I'm pretty sure that if you navigate to "Playlists", click the one you want to shuffle, then press Menu > Shuffle All, it only shuffles the songs from that playlist. I do this a lot, and it appears to never shuffle in any of the songs that aren't in the playlist. Could just be coincidence, though. *shrug*

I tried that, but the first song that played on shuffle was not in the playlist I selected. I'll have to try it again.

clicking shuffle all shuffles all your songs when your in your playlist inthe screen with the small coverart and song info on the bottom of the screen on the left is a shuffle button that will just shuffle the current playlist.
