Hello,

I would like to know whether exists some kind of UPnP or DNLA server app on Android which would allow an Android Device (name it "A") to serve as a receiver (once plugged to speakers of course).

I'd like to be able to push music from a PC or another Android device to this "A" Android device.

This would allow to transform normal speakers to DLNA audio receivers.

First, What is your A device? And how are you going to plug it into speakers, but do not worry with that just yet as headphones will work for now.

I have two phones and can only speak from my experience with them.
The Droid 2 has an app, DLNA and another Media Share. They both do what you want to get music to stream from your computer to your phone.

I have a Samsung Droid Charge that has an app AllShare that does the same thing.

Both phones require you to enable media share in Windows Media player. You must have a home WIFI for this to work which is probably obvious, but I mention it anyway.

All this works in reverse too, you can stream from your phone to the computer or any other DLNA device.

I can get more specific if you want but I need to know your Device A and what type computer you are streaming from. I only know Windows.

The "A" device is a Samsung Galaxy S (i9000), and the (say) "B" device (the one connected with hearphones or speakers, with a mini-jack) is an old HTC Magic.

I have a WIFI local network, and a pc runing on Windows 7, but I would like to stream directly from A to B. I shared my multimedia library and I know how to access to it from the A device with the "2player" app.

I found an "iMediaShare" compatible with the HTC Magic but it seems to only work one way (which mean to share content, not to share the audio output).

OK, I am brain dead for this day, when I get up in the morning I will study device A and B that you mention. Samsung has the AllShare app so device A should have it. You can use it to stream over WIFI to any DLNA device from any other DLNA enabled device. I do not know what HTC uses for DLNA but I will find out. You should be able to stream from A to B wireless. I will figure it out tomorrow morning.

UHH, I kinda get tanked in the afternoon/evening.

Your Samsung should already have an app called AllShare.

Then follow this guide. [Tutorial] How to use AllShare to its fullest. (WINDOWS 7)

Set up both Method one and two. After you complete, if all goes well you will be able to stream from your computer to either or both of your phones, between the phones or from the phones to the computer.

I have no experience with the HTC app so you may have to tinker with it some and/or do some Googling.

I tried Skifta but it seems it does'nt do exactly what I want : I ran it on the HTC Magic but I don't see it as a remote player on the Galaxy (neither with AllShare, 2player or other DLNA app). It works on the other hand (it offers a remote media server), but none in this one.

On the other hand, I found another app, "PlugPlayer", which can do it, but it is not free, and I'm not sure if it follows DLNA protocol.

I have tried all the apps you have mentioned plus others before I got the AllShare and DLNA apps to work.

When you install the AllShare program on the computer it creates what it calls the AllShare server. Once you turn the apps on, on each of the phones, there will be a pop up that says device "A" and "B" want to join. Click allow and then you should see them on the left hand side of the computer under Connected Shared Devices. Then you should see them in as sources on the phones.

You should then be able to stream music from the computer directly to "B" that is hooked up to speakers. "A" is out of the equation, unless you have music on it and want it to be "B"'s source.

Now after you get it working, you may not like the way that you choose the music being played on "B". I think it would be best to set up a playlist on the computer and play it rather than trying to choose individual songs or tracts.
