Default Music not playing on Samsung Galaxy s2

Hi Everyone, im new to the Forum today, i thought i might be able to get some advice please.
I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy s2, all my other phones have been pretty basic so trying to get to grips with this one.
I put an album on it from my lap top but it wont play on the phone,i press play and the green line moves along and the length of time the track has been playing for is showing. ive also set one of the tracks for a ring tone and when i ring it it just vibrartes. the samsung ringtones will play and also videos and stuff from the internet and the radio works so i dont think its the speakers
sometimes a tiny bit of sound comes out then stops.
has anyone got any ideas of where im going wrong?
Thanks in advance
Carly

As Galaxy s2 can support MP3, OGG, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB
AMR-WB, WMA, WAV, MID, AC3, IMY, FLAC, XMF audio,so you should be sure your music are one of these audio formats,if not you can use Format Factory to convert them to MP3 or other formats listed above. And you can drag and drop them to S2 when you connect it to your laptop.
