pausing music with the 3.5mm headphones

I just got a Motorola Backflip but I'm accustomed to a G1 so I got a 3.55 mm headset to use with the phone. It works well except with the G1 headset when I hit the button on the microphone it paused the music and pressing it again resumed. Now pressing the button brings up the voice dialing menu, is there a setting I can tweak to make it simply pause and un-pause my music?
