Google Play movie resolution and device playback?
I have run into a new (to me) problem and wondered if anyone has any answer beyond my expected answer of "The rights holder didn't license that to us..."
I own the following Android devices:
Nexus 7 (1280x800 res screen)
EVO 4G LTE (1280x720 res screen)
Logitech Revue (720p TV)
I purchased the HD version of Transformers and The Help. I have tried playing both movies back on all of the devices I own including my 1920x1080 laptop and only the Nexus 7 offers HD playback. I can't even get the movies to play on my Revue.
Since I can stream HD movies, when available, from Netflix on all of the above devices I would guess this is a freaking licensing issue? Ok, but I purchased The Help before I had the Nexus 7 and was still given the option to buy the HD version. If only the Nexus 7 can play that back at HD I would have to call this pretty deceptive by Google.
Thoughts?
