Default BING or Google: Which Do You Use Most

I know we androdians are "manufactured" from birth with Google as our feeding bottle. But Ive been checking out BING for awhile and finding I like it a lot. Google seem to be getting into things that you have to manually opt out of instead of sending emails askimg if you like to "opt in" . Several other reasons I am comsidering using BING more.

What about you guys (cough!..oops!), I mean , what about you fellow androidianites, which DO you prefer and the poll is for which do you use most?

Google. Mainly because I can just type what I want to search for in the address bar on chrome and it takes me to the Google results page.

That being said, whenever I've tried Bing, the results are never exactly what I'm looking for, Google tends to have more relevant results.

Google....GOOOGLE.....GOOOOOOOOOOOGLE.

It makes everything easier with my Android, syncing purposes, instant upload, everything.
Plus my Nexus has a built in google search bar, even though i disabled it :S

Anyhow, i just find bing annoying as it constantly is trying to find a way to set itself to my default search engine >:O

All good points. For me, ive noticed more graphics when I search bing. But hands-down google maps keep my interests.... Even apple fall short to that!

Google. Almost exclusively. They will own the world someday, they already have all of the world's knowledge. I say support and search with them so then Google does take over you don't get in some sort of a Bing Prison or something....

I disliked Bing's extra "stuff". When I want to search on the internet, I don't want to have to load a webpage that has a lot of images to load, wants access to my facebook/twitter to see what my friends are searching, etc. Remember when Google tried to do something like what Bing does now? There was an outrage because people just want to be able to search without extra stuff clogging their bandwidth/screens. If you like the extra stuff, then Bing is probably what you want and you should definitely try it.

I also took Bing's challenge of Bing vs Google. In the blind side-by-side, I picked Google 4/5 times. The one that wasn't a Google win was a draw.

Being the best search engine Google gives much better and latest result. But if somehow end up with browser that has Bing toolbar and Bing as a default search engine I don't mind diving in. I experience that Bing also provides relatively satisfactory result.

But if you ask for so search something in blank browser I'll go for Google. I'm just use to it and I think many people use to it. It's habbit that cannot be changed so easily.

You get points for every couple of searches. Those points are redeemable for many things, but I always opt for the amazon gift cards. That's nearly as good as cash

I use Startpage and Iron.

I will not use Bing, it's in the hosts file on the PC. I'd love to ban it from Android and Ubuntu. MS pissed me off years ago.

Groupon is in the hosts file, too.

If I like a site's services, I subscribe to newsletters. I get offers on sales that way.
Groupon has nothing I want. It's the online equivalent of that Gold C book.

Does Phandroid have a NL? I can't find one.

Baidu has it's own search-tool, that's really meant for China and is only in Chinese. However it does index non-Chinese websites as well, e.g. searching for "android forums", does give this website at the top.

It's accessible internationally, but is subject to Chinese internet laws. google.cn in Beijing doesn't do search in the Mainland, and going to google.com for search redirects to google.com.hk in Hong Kong SAR. However this is sometimes blocked in the Mainland.

Bing does officially do a search-tool in China via cn.bing.com, which is subject to the internet laws and to comply with its ICP license.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICP_license

Baidu is the main search-tool for China, apparently 80% share. Just about all computers I've seen here have Baidu as the browser's homepage. When I bought my new Lenovo phone a few weeks ago, the default internet search was Baidu, and not Google or Bing.

AFAICT the vast majority of Chinese just never look at foreign sites. China has it's own home-grown equivalents to things like Twitter, Tumblr and Youtube, like Weibo, QQ Zone, Tudou and Youku.

So far, I am still having a goodd.experience with Bing. One thing I dont like about Google lately is how they keep overriding my browsing preferences and choosingb for me what format I want to viw pages.

Also I "tested" how they track my uh..."habits". And sure enuff,......

Im gettn ads about stuff from google to Youtube for "things that'n interest me"...id rather have the freedom to browse whatever and not get tossed inside a bucket just because I was "....well, passing through"

Quite a few Google services are restricted or are just not available in China at all, like Docs, Cloud storage, Youtube and Plus. Unless you use a VPN. Google's Chinese portal at google.cn, does offer unrestricted access to a few services though, like Maps, Translate, Gmail, Calendar and Contacts. Google China used to run a free music download and streaming service, but they discontinued it last month. AFAIK most people get their MP3 downloads via Baidu.

Rico, I don't know if you already knew this, but most Android devices sold in the Mainland don't have Google products and services on them either. including devices from non-Chinese makers like Samsung. Which is a frequent problem for anyone hoping for a bargain, with buying cheap Chinese phones or tablets on Ebay.

I think a lot of us take for granted even our everyday activity online. I havent experienced any restrictions like that youve mentioned, but, have read about some major crackdown underway here in the U.S. going into effect Nov 2012. Our cellphone and internet providers are going to restrict or block our ability to browse if we download copyrighted material after five warnings.

I can see the issue one would have if purchasing devices tweaked for services in one country and used in another country. Ive browsed google.cn. Very nice to know we all are only a click away yet thousands of miles inbetween.

Our cellphone and internet providers are going to restrict or block our ability to browse if we download copyrighted material after five warnings.

I can see the issue one would have if purchasing devices tweaked for services in one country and used in another country.
It comes up many times on AF. Including some rather interesting cases, Someone bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace that was intended for China Mobile. Couldn't make it work on 3 in the UK, even though it was unlocked. Because 3 in the UK only operates a 3G UMTS network, not 2G GSM. China Mobile uses it's own unique 3G wireless technology, as well as EDGE/GSM.

Myself, I've got a Lenovo phone, I find this to be more suited to China, than the UK purchased Samsung Galaxy S I had.

In China it's not clamping down on copyright infringement they're after. It's basically anything that Beijing(Communist Party of China) feels is undesirable and doesn't want The People to see, that's what gets censored here.

You probably saw the Search is there, but via google.com.hk in Hong Kong. HK is not subject to the same censoring and internet laws as the Mainland.

Couple of years ago, Google was almost on the edge of pulling out of the PRC completely, and closing its Beijing office.

I did notice when I use an MP3 Downloader app I got from GooglePlay that a LOT of my downloads seem to come from overseas such as the orient. Its all good to me if China doesnt have a heavy crackdown on downloads like mp3s butbi wonder how these upcoming U.S. imposed restrictions can regulate us from downloads that comes from servers not in a U.S. jurisdiction?

Was it Googles decision to possibly pull out or local laws an dv terms that were making itbso Google couldnt service the area? Makes me think how far a govt can go with internet access and how can they block say, for example, if I wanted to download a song from a server stored on a system in china. I guess we do have regulations coming.

Hello everyone,
What I found funny with both Bing and Google, is the image saver. I dropped my HTC Trophy, so I ended up with the Stellar.
On the Windows phone, if you wanted to save an image. You had to use Google images.
Whereas, I find with my Android phone, it is the opposite. I have to use Bing to save an image.

It may be operator error, but try it sometime. I thought it was pretty funny, but strange.

Neither, because they track and record my internet behavior and sell that to whoever is buying, making an obscene amount of profit off of spying on me. And you.

I use Ixquick.com. Which doesn't track and record my searches and ip address.
The first I've heard of Ixquick.com Ive "googled" it and see.that its a U.S. business for several years and it uses a proxy server structure that provide ananymous browsing.

I foumd this link to youtube THANKS ALICE!

Default Are We Being "SCROOGLED" By Google?

Google started out with no paid ads and no forcing user accounts, etc. Watched a video clip (yup, BING) that says you are missing most of your search results and perhaps missing best priced items because Google Scroogles' you by filtering what your results are by preference.

Have you done a Google vs Bing search result lately to see what are missing specifically between search results of Google vs Bing?
