Playing NAS-Resident Media Via USB-Ethernet?
Samsung Note N7000.
I am trying to troubleshoot stuttering in playback of 720 and 1080 video files.
My test file plays OK if I copy it to the external SD card, so I'm guessing it is not a matter of CPU capacity.
I'm thinking it is something to do with WiFi. 2ghz, G-only. When I connect via a Windows box, it claims 54 Mbps - although, in the past on my netbook I've seen higher numbers, like 125 Mbps.
To test the WiFi angle, I would like to turn WiFi off, connect to my PC via the USB-Ethernet cable, and then try playing the test file.
But it's not happening: MX File Manager seems unable to open the shares I have been using via WiFi.
Am I maybe misunderstanding the capabilities of the USB cable connection? i.e. Is it even capable of getting to my router via the PC it is connected to?
Or is this already a slam-dunk and WiFi is known tb incapable of handling HD video smoothly?
