Hi All!

I love my new HTC Desire and the only thing lacking is a music player that plays at variable speed. I listen to a lot of audio books and my old Sansa Clip player gives the option of playing audio at a faster speed (so you can go finish a book faster).

The normal android player doesn't seem to have this option. Is there another player that does?

I love audiobooks as well. And I'm hoping to get a android phone soon that will be able to replace my Sansa Fuze as my normal audiobook player.

I've been watching this app for a while:
Ambling BookPlayer - Bringing books to life

And someone on their forums has asked for speed control. So perhaps they will incorporate it...but as a book player itself, this app looks great and worth the full feature price.

Tempo control would be great!!

A very good solution for this is Astro player.

it has skip buttons(great for podcasts) as well as variable speed.

I'm the developer of Osplay, which is pretty much exactly what you want. I released the trial version today, which has an audio advertisement for the paid version occasionally, as well as AdMob ads. Speed multiplier is limited to between 0.8 and 1.25 (the full version can go from 0.4 to 2.0, but in practice anything below 0.6 doesn't sound very good, and faster hardware is required to increase the speedup; no device that I know of has a problem at 1.5, and a Droid is fast enough to hit 2.0).
