Default Free Apps Favored on Android

We can all admit to at least a few points that would end up in the Android Market’s “needs improvement” column, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is fastly growing as a source for mobile software that could soon rival iOS in terms of number of apps available. With their latest figures mobile [...]

hmm, wonder why? here are some possible reasons, off the top of my head:
  • the lower barrier to entry for the android app market, so people just throw in low-quality free apps
  • culture of giving things away for free/open source in the Android dev community
  • app market being less developed in general, so fewer businesses have come in looking for profits

thoughts? why else?

2 things will change this:
OEM's and carriers want the big games so they will do what it takes to get them. We already see this with Verizon and EA Need for Speed Shift.
-Cisco is onboard with their Cius tablet and they will push for enterprise software development.
People make a lot of money in the PC world with games (not one shot puzzle games) and enterprise apps...not so much with notepad and calculator apps. People will look for free alternatives to those 'simple' apps on Android just like they do on the PC.
