Got to play around with it for a little bit today and got to play around with the iP4 couple of days ago for a little bit.

Droid was much more impressive. I thought 4.3" would be too big, I was wrong. It is a great size for a smartphone. The display did look really good despite it being of a lower resolution and the NinjaBlur UI is very clean. Pencil me impressed.

I wasn't too impressed by it. I think Sense (which I'm not a big fan of) is much faster than the version of Moto Blur that's on there. (its not Ninja Blur) comparing the camera to a Droid Incredible, the Incredible took better pics. Keyboard did feel very good. I wasn't a fan of the size and didn't like the hump on the back.

My fionce has an incredible and we both used to have the eris. To me this is better then both. I like the size of it and how fast it is......I'm #1 on the list at my local best buy so that should say a lot about how much I like it and want it. She likes the incredible more just because of the size.

right now i have an iPhone 4 but because of all the anntena problems as well as the network i am thinking about switching over the the Droid x when it comes out in a couple days.

I curious as to what you guys think of the Droid X

1. display compared to the iphone 4 - iphone 4 has that new retena display and its supper clear.

2. The user friendliness of it as well is something that i was worried about with the Droid x.

3. The Camera ??

4. What about battery life.. if anyone has heard anything about battery life about it compared to the Droid x. I had a 3g before and the battery life sucked. On my iPhone 4 its WAY Better.. so i was curious if the i Droid X was pretty good or not??

5. APPS - always a key feature ... i see all these commercials for Droid phones and they always have 20 million apps for these Droid phones. I know that apple has a few as well .. but is there a winner anywhere??

6. SERVICE!! i know this phone doesnt come out till the 15th but has anyone heard anything??

I have 30 days to cancel my contract for my iPhone 4 and am thinking about doing it..

Haven't seen either live but going on what I know:

1) The iPhone display is smaller but better; if you'd prefer a bigger screen for surfing, photos/videos and games, the X FTW. If you'd prefer a smaller but sharper screen, the iPhone takes it.

2) The Droid X, like all other Android OS phones, isn't as user-friendly or simple as the iPhone OS. However, it's infinitely customizable and will let you configure your screens and your applications how you want them configured. The iPhone is very simple to learn because there's not much to it; the Android has a steeper learning curve but not so steep that it will make you feel uncomfortable for more than an hour playing with it. Even.

3) The Camera on the iPhone is 5MP and good; the camera on the X is 8MP and decent. There's a new OTA update which improved the camera's quality on the X, so I'm guessing -- without having compared the post-OTA update camera on the X -- that the X (mechanical shutter, btw) is the better choice here.

4) This is a no-brainer. The Moto battery life is going to be the winner here, both in the short- and long term. It's got a lot of juice, the X has a lot of power configuration options built into its interface, and -- duh -- the X has a user-replaceable battery so if/when the battery stops keeping a full charge you toss it and replace it. With the iPhone, you're stuck until you are willing to send it in for replacement.

5) The iPhone has better apps but the Droid OS has a load of them being developed and a big chunk (200 or so) that are really, really solid. Bold prediction: by this time next year, there won't be any advantage to the iPhone's selection of user-installable applications. This is a guess based on the exponential explosion of stuff out of the Palm development community, which the Android community mirrors in many ways.

Put another way, how many fart machine applications do you really expect to install on your iPhone anyway?

6) Service: voice quality is solid from what I've heard (no pun intended). Data quality is quick and responsive in many locations (again, based on second-hand reviews). And both are based on Verizon's network, which is far and above superior to AT&T's for both voice and data. Another no-brainer.

I think you should tinker with the X and see if it's what you want. Based on what's been happening and the way Apple has (mis)handled Antennagate, I'd be running to the store to return an iPhone, if only to make sure the problem is solved before I pulled the trigger for good.

Meanwhile, given the choice of an iPhone (even with a functional antenna) and the X, I'm 90% sure I'd be going with the X.

You should definitely go check out the X and see what you think in person. Can't hurt.

1. While the iPhone display is probably more crisp due to a higher resolution, I didn't really think the 854x480 resolution was pixelated at all. Couple that with a 4.3" screen and I think the X is better for surfing the web, reading ebooks, and watching streaming videos.

2. The interface is not as simple as the iOS but once you get used to it, I think you would end up preferring it. There will be a learning curve but honestly, it is not that hard to learn. It is so customizable to the point where anything you don't like, you can probably replace. IMO there is a whole lot more you can do with an Android phone to make it truly yours.

3. Did not see the actual camera but the camcorder looked very good. Something worth checking out at a VZW store.

4. Can't answer. Sorry

5. iPhone has been around since mid-'07 while Android came about in late '08/early '09. Apple has over 250k apps while Android is nearing 100k. One thing I like about Android is how open the app store is. They do remove malicious apps and apps which breach copyright laws but there is no censoring/filtering. As a result, I think in the long run, Android will have the better apps. It already has some of my favorite apps which the iPhone does not:
a) Google Navigation- free turn by turn directions
b) Google Voice- free call forwarding/free voicemail transcription & organization/free SMS
c) Multiple tethering apps (does violate carrier terms of service but nice to have available)
ALSO since it is on Verizon, it does have several apps which are not yet available to non-Verizon phones like Need For Speed Shift, Blockbuster (like a Netflix app), Skype, etc

6. Rumor has it that the phone will be getting Android 2.2 later this summer. Once it gets that, it will have features such as JIT compiler (a JAVA compiler which makes your phone faster), Adobe Flash 10.1 (which can be easily turned on and off), ability to install apps on sdcard, better exchange support.
