I've never seen anything tech wise take off as fast as Android before, with the possible exception of the iPhone. It seems to me though that Apple is once again in the same situation they were back in the 80's and 90's with the Mac versus PC. We all know who one that battle and why. A closed system compared to an open system. Open wins out every time. Sooner or later people get tired of not being able to do everything they want with their devices and move over to one that lets them do more for less.
I know before I bought my Vibrant I took a look at the iPhone 4. I just have to say I wasn't impressed. It seemed to me to be a small step above the 3GS. Sure, 4 has features 3gs doesn't, like front camera, flash, clearer screen, etc., but if I owned an iPhone 3gs, I wouldn't be too tempted to pick up 4.
What really turned me off to the iPhone 4 is what always turns me off to every product Apple has ever made. High prices and hardware that will ONLY work with what Steve wants them to. iTunes is the perfect example of this. I was also amazed to see that with an iPhone, in order to get navigation I'd have to pay $8 a month. I walked out of the store as soon as the sales guy mentioned that.
I'm really liking my Vibrant so far, and the fact that I'm paying WAY less for more functionality, unlimited data, free turn by turn nav, and more each month makes me feel even better.
