I doubt we'll have it in our hands in february. I'm sorry, if the tablet wasn't ready for demos at CES, I don't think it will be consumer ready in 4-6 weeks.

I'd like to hear people's opinion on the tablet though. I'm excited about honeycomb, the dual core processor but I'm worried that no wifi version is being offered.

Frankly, I see tablets as a different beast. They are meant to be used at home, the office or having a read. On the occasions I will need internet outside of a wifi area, I will just tether to my phone. I'm not going to pop out my tablet on the street to check a fact or get directions. thats what my phone is for.

So it bugs me that we might have to get a plan (in which the tablet is a no-go for me) or even that we have to pay the additional price for a 3g radio we will never use.


The other interesting factor going into my tablet decision is the screen redundancy. I use the ipad for quick internet surfing, reading (PDFs for work and the paper in the morning). I can't travel with it alone because I am very limited by not having a keyboard/mouse. If i have to take my laptop anyway, it doesn't make sense for me to take a tablet too...

The idea of the U1 and le-pad is fascinating. add a an ipad to a macbook air and I would be the first in line to buy. However I am worried that by the time le-pad comes out in the US, the 1ghz processor will be outdated by dual core tegra 2 processors. Furthermore I am worried that the large number of tablet offerings will create major problems for android OS upgradeability. Will lenovo be as forthcoming with android updates as the google blessed motorola?

Dream setup for me would be:
**A Mac (though I would consider a PC) with a xoom as the screen (U1 style and wifi only).

**You could run the tablet and PC at the same time so as to remove the screen to better reading or browsing at your leisure

**and you could also run the whole setup in "low power mode" in which you would turn off the base PC but still use the keyboard and trackpad to run the tablet software for extended battery life on simple tasks such as text editing or android gaming.


I'd be curious to read everyone's thoughts.

I've got the Viewsonic g Tablet with the tegra 2 processor running a custom Rom (TnT lite 4.0 from xda developers). The tegra 2 is awesome! Can't wait for the phones! My tablet is getting 3300+ on the quadrant benchmark like everyone else with the latest roms onthis tablet.

This 1ghz dual core actually has 10 cores on the one chip. There are two A9 cpus and an 8 core gpu integrated on the chip. I have smooth high def video and ultra fast web functionality unmatched by my desktop!

You are right in saying that the tegra 2 will outdate the current fastest 1ghz processors.

if it wasn't for the viewing angle and maybe the battery life I would go for it. I think i'll sit on my hands and wait for the xoom but its so nice to see the tegra 2 is worth it.

Viewing angle is not great on the g tablet however, I can't complain about 8 hrs active use on a charge.

I'm extremely excited about the Xoom, but I'm hoping there will be a no contract option ala the iPad. If there's not, I guess I'll have to just wait.
