I am a thinking about purchusing this phone as my first smartphone, but if there are better alternatives then I'll look elsewhere.

I want a no-contract phone.

I hear that this phone cannot play flash in the browser. True? If so, is this a big issue (I haven't used android before), or something that is just inconvienient.

This is the best deal for Android out there, I've used a different device on a different carrier for a while now, but if anything happens, this is what I'd be switching to. No flash is not a big deal, there's an alternate browser called Skyfire that can stream videos without flash.

Yeah, I've read about skyfire. Probably a good idea to look into.

It is just that with froyo I thought the big thing was to be able to play flash content in the browser. Kinda upsetting.

So does this mean that I wouldn't be able to run a flash game off of a website, and only be able to play downloaded app games? Skyfire doesn't help here either correct, since it only does flash video?

The big thing about Froyo is the JIT (just-in-time) compiler that makes most apps run 2-5x faster. Plus other minor enhancements such as flash. Most flash content is poorly done on an Android phones that supports it since it's not very efficient. I hardly ever use it. Better to get an app that runs natively.
