Default Old iPhone Outselling Motorola Atrix, HTC Inspire at AT&T?

With hundreds of different Android phones on the market and available, every one can’t be a blockbuster hit. You’ll have some that are hugely popular, some that hit a niche crowd, some that find mainstream success, and some that perform full face plants. It’s no secret that the Motorola Atrix and HTC Inspire are intended [...]

I thought I would post this here. I posted it in the phandroid blog:

How about older Android phones? Are they outselling the Atrix and Inspire at AT&T?

EDIT: never mind I found this lil article:

http://www.npd.com/press/relea...

From the article:

Quote:
"After launching on Verizon's network in February, Apple's iPhone 4 further solidified its position as the top-selling mobile phone in the U.S., while iPhone 3GS, Motorola Droid X, HTC EVO 4G, and HTC Droid Incredible rounded out NPD's top-five mobile phone handset ranking. Unit sales of smartphones increased 8 percent in Q1 compared to the previous quarter; however, total handset unit sales fell 1 percent."
Great news for the iPhone 4...but wait. What are the other phones on that list? The iPhone 3GS, Motorola Droid X, HTC EVO 4G, and HTC Droid Incredible.

Is that the same 3GS that this article is about? How come no mention of the 3 older Android phones? I wonder why....So along with the 3GS, 3 older Android phones are outselling the Atrix and Inspire too.

Can someone say biased reporting? I do notice it says AT&T but there are still older Android phones outselling them right now too.

Amazing what a lil searching can do isnt it? Guess where I found out about this lil tidbit of info? Apple Insider...lol

the phone is $49

I know of 3 people who had never had smartphones before that purchased the iphone because of the price.

is it an outdated phone, yes.
do average iphone owners care, no.
all they see is price and the overall name of iphone.

I get that, thats good for the 3GS.

But there are still older Android phones outselling the Atrix and Inspire. Yea on other carriers but still. I wanna see the complete list, I'm willing to bet there are older Android phones on AT&T outselling those 2 too based on price.

Many of the older Iphones I would think people are using them as mp3 players.

Isn't it not obvious as stated. Its for sure the best (and only) smartphone you can get for $49 and last generation iphone performs much smoother than entry level android devices (after all it was not designed as entry level). Seems just as obvious as the iphone4 outselling popular android devices because the android devices are stealing sales from each other while there's only one iphone4 (anybody buying a iphone3GS NOW had no intentions of buying an iphone4 and most already own it or identicle ipod so I wouldn't account it at all for stealing iphone4 sales). X obviously took a nice chunk of incredible sales upon release which before obviously took a chunk out of OG droid sales. thunderbolt most likely slowed down X sales and incredible 2 will without a doubt steal thunderbolt sales for those who dont care about 4G...and so forth and so on lol

Thats all fine and dandy but... none of those Android phones are on at&t so its kinda irrelevant.

I think only mentioning the 3GS and no Android phones was a better headline for the article. Why no mention of the older Android phones, especially on AT&T?
