Hey guys, would be good if we could get all the icons and batch them up into zip that fit each resolution as so many variants spread out now and not everyone stating what resolution/phone they have. This way all the icons made found can be neatly kept together and updated when new ones available. Myself and others will try and make sure that all images throughout this thread are included in each ZIP for the specified resolution.
Cheers
choccy,
You are right, and this post is being created in your honor.
This post will be the central point for a library of images separated into ZIP files per device. The files in this post will be updated and changed as necessary with dates and changes listed per ZIP. You will have to keep an eye for new or revised icons added for your device.
Hey im tring to get this thing going on my galaxy.s but cant seem to get spacing right with the widget above.... Ive ticked that thing in launcher pro but it still leaves a pretty large ga
i took the liberty of resizing Krze's Icons to fit the Samsung SAMOLED screen better, should fit any of the Galaxy S 4" screen phones better than before
Pixels Used
4x1- 475w x 124h
3x1- 355w x 124h
2x1- 230w x 124h
1x1- 110w x 124h
1x2- 115w x 266h
PS, i also prefer to have the format in the filename, so i also changed that so when i am placing a 3x1 icon with desktop visualizer it helps me in choosing
i tried these icons and still get a gap with a galaxy

More will be posted as they become compiled and categorized.
Thanks Paul (good name by the way ;-) )
Would you be able to resize some of the other icons that are on this thread and add them to the zip also please?
I'm also looking for generic sports one, plus NHL one and a Man Utd / Football (soccer to North Americans) if possible also both Horizontal and Vertical.

Okay, first things first, here's a quote from Page-1 Post-1 of this thread:
"For those who need a little help figuring out image sizes for the Desktop Visualizer widgets, the following list is based on LauncherPro's homescreen arrangement of 4-columns and 5-rows:"
It looks like you're set to 4-rows.
The best thing to do before attempting this theme is to read the entire first post: Android Phone 7 Theme. This can save a lot of people a lot of headaches.
Also, try sticking with the dimensions listed on the above post for the Incredible. As much as you may be using the dimensions listed by jamesnmandy, I don't think they're correct. If you sized the 2x1 at 230x124 as jamesnmandy stated, it should still be that size... but it's coming out at 249x123. That's a big clue that the dimensions aren't right.
But, try changing the rows setting first ([MENU]-> [Preferences]-> [Homescreen Settings]-> [Number of Rows]-> [5]. Also make sure that "Auto-fit Items" is checked. When the pop-up says "Restart required" press "Yes".

Let me know how this works.
it must be something about his settings or if he is starting out creating a 3x1 desktop icon and then choosing a 2x1 scaled image
thats why i changed my resized image filenames to reflect the proper resolution, so if you choose a 2x1 Desktop Virtualization Widget, you should then be sure you choose a png with a 2x1 in it's name, otherwise weird things will happen
heres my Fascinate using the very images i resized along with your original ones Paul, they play nice together now after i resized them

I definitely understand assigning the widget size to the filename... I have been doing that since the beginning.
But I still don't get the image dimensions you're using. Maybe it's just me and my OCD, but the widgets in your screenshots don't seem to be lining up as they should (ie. the vertical spacing is much larger than the horizontal spacing). Not that there are any rules to doing this... they just don't seem like they are playing well to me.
It's amazing to me that the same resolution on different devices yields varying results. Other than notification bar and dock size differences, the overall pixel dimensions are the same. And I also notice that no matter what the device, there is a consistent 5-pixel gap along the left and right borders as well as a [pretty] consistent 10-pixel gap gap between widgets. There theoretically should be very little difference between devices with the same screen resolution.
Basically, I'm finding that people are just forgetting simple settings in LauncherPro... like the "Auto-Fit Items" setting, which fixes the different vertical spacing problems.

Hi jamesnmandy,
Hmm, that's strange. Are you sure about these? I have the international version Galaxy S and paulmz's dimensions work perfectly on it. Could you share some screenshots?
Grrr I tried to resize some of the icons for other phones on PhotoShop using the desire sizing but coming out wrong still. Dunno why. its the verticle ones ending up too slim.
Hmm, just noticed the dimensions kindly provided on first page are different to the ones I think I got of XDA which was also meant to be for Desire (resolution).
Hmmm will have to look at again later.
Love the 50's style ones, any chance of having them done for the Desire? ;-)
Oh Finally need some good comic Book ones please!
Geeze i'm all take these days! ;-)

paulmz's always worked fine for me, i resized krze's icons because as they are in the original xda thread, there always ended up a lot of black border around them on my Fascinate, but paulmz's did not
there was another guy in the xda thread that did the footwork to figure out what size worked best on the sammy devices. i simply took krze's icons and resized them in gimp to the dimensions the other guy worked out and they look great now, or much improved anyways
i did not do anything to paulmz's icons, left them as is, they work fine
@paul
i actually like the slightly off space, it gives it more of the abstract look i'm after, i am OCD'ish and usually gravitate towards symmetry to the point of being obnoxious about it at times, but for some reason the asymmetry of the layout is oddly appealing to me

After tweaking the rows vs. columns on the Launcher Pro settings I got this. Enjoy ;]:
Main Screen Secondary Musc Widget x3 Photo Widget Google Voice Widget Windows Phone 7 Themed Keyboard *non and root users* Launcher Pro 3D App Drawer *Overview* All of the square tiles are 300x300. My device screen resolution is 800x400 (Samsung Fascinate)

I'm writing this post due to something that I only now just realized. I have been noticing that, despite all of my insane OCD reworking, layouts on some devices are not spacing correctly. The only reason I can see for this issue is the possibility that the "Auto-Fit Items" option is not selected in LauncherPro Settings. Please see the following for a visual explanation and how to fix the problem:
If you do not have the "Auto-Fit Items" option check marked, it apparently makes the vertical spacing asymmetrical. The middle image is with "Auto-Fit" turned on, and the right-hand image is with "Auto-Fit" turned off. As you can see, the black vertical lines between the widgets stays the same but the black horizontal lines between the widgets gets smaller.
To remedy the problem, follow these steps:
When the pop-up screen says "Restart required" press [Yes].
Done! Hope this helps.
This is EXACTLY how I fixed my problem! I was messing around with the Preferences and came across that Preference, tried it and all the widget photos fit in just perfect! I will get some screen shots up here soon. Thanks again for all your help!
Everyone that I show my phone too loves it and wants to know how to do it themselves! I love it!

BlondeeLox,
No problem. Glad I could help! Thanks for posting the screenshots, too. They look awesome.
PS: When is my name going next to Kelmar's in your signature?... (Just kidding. Kelmar is my hero, too. He helps me keep my thread nice and neat... just the way my OCD likes it... Thanks, Kelmar!)
Theoretically, these dimensions should be correct. Are you questioning in relation to the krze@XDA icons? I haven't looked at those icons yet but plan to do so.
Also, posting screenshots is always helpful to see what is not working correctly.
I know this explanation might be a bit visually drawn out, but...
Anyway, I just used a generic image file and a non-personal contact. You, of course, can select these options to your needs. You can also do the same thing as a text message by selecting "Direct Message" (underneath the "Direct Dial" option - see image 9 above).
Also, this is all based on using LauncherPro. I'm not sure exactly how the menus are listed for other home systems (but they should be similar if not the same).
Hope this helps!

jamesnmandy:
I definitely like the way that your layout looks. The spacing gives it character, makes it look less cluttered, and allows the wallpaper to show through. (I was just checking to see if you needed help lining the icons up and I wanted to make sure you weren't getting frustrated about it and just left them spaced apart.) The intentional asymmetric spacing does work very well. I have seen a couple of people do this and it looks good.
Yeah, my OCD kept me up a couple of nights figuring out how to get the spacing perfect on the image widgets.
That's it! There are a few other options for "Cell Memory Usage", but these are more of a performance setting than a quality setting. Adjust them as you will.
There should be a noticeable difference in the quality of the images with the first setting.

Oh god, tell me about it. I feel your pain, man. You should see how people ask me to arrange some of my wallpapers! Sometimes it's actually difficult for me to put a main element off-kilter! As if their fancy widget placement is more important than my sanity!
We should start an AF group for the Theme section Minnesotans with OCD.
BTW - Your last batch of icons (the retro 50's ones) look fantastic!
Hi paulmz,
i really like the idea of the "theme" but i cant seem to get ot work on my HTC legend coz i cant find the right resolutions to it and maybe some settings i got wrong, i set it to 5 rows and auto fit but i can find any resolution that fit my legend which prob have a resolution of 640x480 if i aint mistaken so can u help ?!

Sorry if this is a real basic question, i am using the stock home on the Droid X. This thread has the pixel height and width for other Home Apps. I believe the stock home only has 4 rows and 4 columns. Does anyone know the pixel height and width to use for the icons provided on the Droid X w/ stock home?

Actually, the resolution for the Legend is 320x480. The image dimensions are listed in this post:
