I'm having trouble with the app icon size. I initially set the icon size really small, but now I want them back to the default size and it's just not letting me do that. And yes, I go to preferences>visual settings>icons>icon size and then press default size, but nothing happens. It just goes straight back to the custom size. Anyone know how to fix this??
Edit: Okay FINALLY I figured out the problem. Taken from the xda-developers forum:
Here's the caveat: it seems that if you make a settings change above, and hit the 'Back' button at the top, the change won't be applied. Ditto if you hit the 'n' button. Use the arrow back button on the status bar at bottom, and then the change should stick.
Just in case anyone else was having this problem.

Can somebody tell me if it is possible and how it is done to change icon for an app in the app draw for apps that are not covered with a Icon pack?
I have a Icon pack installed but half of apps don't have their themed icons and I would like to assign them other icons that were not applyed automatically....
Is it possible????
I have exactly the same question. I run a Samsung Galaxy S1 running 2.3.7 custom MIUI ROM and there's nowhere I can find a way of connecting the theme icons to the apps. Something somewhere is working because three or four icons (in the app drawer) have auto-changed, but other icons which are clearly specifically made for apps I have (camera, voice search, file manager), have not. I love the customisability (is that even a word?) of my SGS1 and love GL for the same reason. Having become a bit of a rebuildophile this is something I would really like to find an answer to.
I definitely have the latest GL installed. I did try uninstalling then reinstalling the new theme....then I tried installing a different theme and reinstalling the new one...then I tried changing launchers a couple of times....usual switch on/off/reboot a few times...but it doesn't seem to want to pick them up. This happens on several other GL themes too.
Is there some setting that I've missed? Can we not change an icon to theme within app drawer? - or better still, all icons to fit theme, from the app drawer?
Particular thanks to Tokenpoke for the detailed settings post. I think I've been through all of those settings.
Pretty new to the android scene and was thinking of downloading this to have a look until I checked the permissions it asks.
Is there any reason this app would need permission to directly call phone numbers without your intervention?
Not saying its a dodgy app or anything as its had 10million+ downloads just don't get why it would ask for permission to be able to do this. Having read up (maybe old or untrue) a little on the net with regards to apps on android there seems to be some apps with not so good out comes on the marketplace and just want to edge on the side of caution before I start downloading apps that I know for sure are 100% legit.

It needs access to the call logs for the Launcher Notification feature (puts a red bubble with a number over the phone app shortcut if you have missed calls). It uses the same permission since the app needs to access the phone app and its directories.

The image below is one of the screenshots on the market for the Go Launcher EX. Can anyone tell me how I can add this clock/weather widget? I can't seem to find it.
Is it possible to resize folders? I created a folder with kids games/apps for my daughter and would like to be able to make the resulting folder window large enough to show all of the included icons on one page, rather than her having to scroll through.
How exactly you you mean manage widgets? because that option isn't present in Samsung. I just long press on an empty space and select add widgets, or menu>add while on homescreen.
For the folders, no you cant resize them. But I use Folder Organizer for my Folders so I got folders that occupy the whole screen when I open them.
Re: the widgets... face_palm... doh, thanks lol. that was simple.
With the stock browser (on Transformer Prime), if I open the apps drawer, there is a tab up top to change from apps to widgets, then all the widgets are shown the same as the apps drawer. That's not there with Go Launcher.
But yeah... long-pres on home screen... *smacks his own face*
Follow-up question, how would someone uninstall a widget??
Re: folder size., thanks for the suggestion re: Folder Organizer, will look at it.
Thank you for that info. I installed Go Weather and liked it alot. It gives a nice snapshot all in one place. But I had no choice but to remove it since it has a lot of issues with updating the weather.
I hope someone can help me with the problem I've got with Go Launcher Ex / Go Locker.
When I go into the Preferences of Go Launcher Ex and open Visual Settings, I noticed that just under where it says Visual Settings, it now says "Partial Interface". The sections under Visual Settings are now just Background, Icon, Font and Indicator, I'm sure the sections were different before, I'm sure there was a section about Go Locker but that's gone, I don't know what's happened to the Visual Settings now saying "Partial Interface" when I open it.
Has anyone else had this problem, if so, do you know what's caused it and whether it can be sorted out?
I have uninstalled both Go Launcher Ex and Go Locker and then reinstalled them, but the problem is still there.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the "overshoot" when sliding home screens?
By overshoot I mean I slide the screen across to move to my next home screen and it "bounces" once it gets to the next screen.
When I used ADW Launcher I noticed it had a specific option to disable this but cannot find one in GO Launcher.
Using the latest version from the Market on Galaxy Ace.
Got a couple of particular issues and wonder if its same for other users.
1. in message view can't get contact photos to show, yep the option is selected just get default grey head and shoulders image that should be shown when ther is no contact image.
2. in the contacts page getting 2 entries for each contact, Seems to be one from SIM and one from phone. Can't find a way of selecting just to show from one source.
OK, just realised answer to No1. There are 2 entires for each contact, one on SIM and one on phone. Of course one on SIM can't have pic attached and that's the one SMS Pro is using.

I just downloaded and installed Go Launcher EX on my Pandigital Supernova tablet and I love it... all except that when I shut down and then turn my tablet back on, the icons I had on my main screen are gone. I have 8 icons plus the google widget and usually 4 icons and sometimes the google widget are gone. How can I stop that from happening? It is very frustrating!
This is easily my favourite app ever. I'm glad you posted this how to as well. I've wanted to get rid of the status bar to make my phone look more neat and tidy :-)
I figured out my "overshoot" problem so hopefully someone can help me out with another small issue:
I am pretty certain that by default, the app drawer had a plain black background.
Well I was messing around with settings and tried different things but I can't get the black background back.
I can either have transparent, which just dims the wallpaper or the "default" GO background which is blue, yet I'm sure it was black.
Ok so I have go launcher ex BUT when I go to use the pic frame widget instead of going to my picture gallery, it goes to the gallery of icons and docks for go launcher...how do I get back to my picture gallery???
HELLO.
i hawe got serious problem whit launchers on my mobile phone Samsung galaxy mini (GT-S5570).
After downloading launcher from market and installing everything looks normal until i press home screen button. After i press it the phone get restarted and freeze on start up screen whith logo Samsung.
Anyone can help me whith this ??
i have a question, i am a total noob to android or should i say smartphones in general lol and i was wondering if i install this go launcher thing will it affect the os on the phone? I just bought a galaxy note and i hate how bland it looks and wanted to make it look pretty but all the wallpapers and stuff require the go launcher thing but am really worried about affecting the phones os or the go launcher then giving me problems...please can someone tell me. i would reallly really appreciate it.
It won't affect anything other than the looks. Your homescreen and app drawer will change but thats about it.
I have 3 launchers installed (Launcher Pro, Go Launcher, Launcher 7) along with the stock Samsung TouchWiz and my phone is as smooth as when I first bought it. Just don't have all of them running at the same time.
hi I can't seem to run Go Launcher on startup. everytime i restart the phone, the stock launcher starts up. I have to start it up manually. It's installed on the SD Card, but same issue when on the phone. any thoughts? thx!
1) Is there any way to increase the number of apps listed on the "Recent" screen you get when you hold down the Home button? I was using this launcher on my HTC EVO 4G and seeing 8 apps, but now that I've switched to the Spring Epic 4G Touch (which is awesome!), I'm only seeing 6.
2) Someone else asked this, but I didn't see a clear answer: is there a way to re-order the apps in a folder you've created? I can't seem to change them from the order in which I happened to add them to the folder.
Device(s): Motorola Triumph (running ROM CM7 g60 r0.6), Logitech Revue

Thanks very much.
At least on my Triumph, pressing the icon (longer than a tap) makes it movable, then I can drag it to the spot I want and drop it.

The "recent" screen you see when holding the home button is not connected to Go Launcher, its based on the phone's flavor itself. HTC phones have a modified recent screen which shows 8 apps, while Samsung phones use Android standard 6 apps. You have to use a different "recent apps app" like Quickdesk or Perfect Task Switcher to see more than 8 apps.

Thank you both. Chanchan05, if only I could have Quickdesk's layout with Perfect Task Switcher's use of recent apps! (It's really recent apps I need, but PTS's scroll thing is not nearly as convenient as seeing them all at a glance.) Oh, well. Thanks again.
I'm having an issue getting the 5x5 grid to work (in fact none of the grid sizes seem to work). It seems to be stuck on 5x4 only. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm using the latest version on Droid Razr Maxx. These are the steps I took:
after further research, it seems its a launcher + ICS4 thing all together.
Apparently the generic ICS4 does have the black bar menu in general, but since the HTC Sense and Apex Launcher can coated without it, it makes you think its standard without it.
But as mentioned, it just makes sense for the launcher itself to address this option, that Go Launcher can simply produce a patch as well.

Set it as default-should be able to do this on settings/applications screen!
Go Launcher EX v2.87 on my Sprint Galaxy Epic 4G does not display notifications for my Outlook Email. It worked perfectly before with my stock launcher but not with GL.
I still get notifications for Messenger, Gmail, and FaceBook but not for Outlook email.
Hello. Please forgive my message to you. I just can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone and, since you wrote this great user guide for GL users, I thought I should ask you for your help.
After I upgraded my phone's Go launcher from GL v2.87 to GL v3.0 I no longer can access Preferences.
As soon as I select Preferences it reboots my main Home screen (I have 5 screens). Since I can't load Preferencs, I cannot backup my launcher settings, cannot add a 3rd row to my dock area, cannot add the Go Contacts widget, cannot configure any Preference settings at all.
I even wrote to the developers on their Go Launcher Blog for help, and all they did was email me a link to GL v3.01. So I uploaded and installed their link to the 3.0 .apk install file, and Prefs does not let me change any settings since it goes away almost instantly.
I even reverted to my last working GL version, 2.87 and still, that did not work. I also emptied the cache, re-installed/removed GL versions 2.87, 3.0, and finally the latest update, 3.01, and still the Prefs menu does not stay on my phone's screen.
In fact, Prefs only appears for a split second until it vanishes and reboots my Home screen all over again.
Below is my phone setup.

Awesome guide, I had a question for anyone that could help me out..
I recently bought a nifty little JXD s601 to run emulated games on.
I've got go launcher on it, but with the capacitive screen it's a pain to set up the background (i.e. jiggle around apps and shortcuts on the homescreen).
So I was wondering if there was anyway to kind of simulate the launcher app and set up the "desktop" on my pc and then import the settings onto my device?
I know you can export/save your preferences in the launcher app, so is there anything I could do using a pc? Or could I use another android device to set up the app there, save the settings, copy them to the JXD and then it will have the shortcuts?
Anyone got any ideas? It'll take me ages to set it up how I want using only the JXD, since I want to use the GBCoid/ps1/gba shortcuts on my desktop.
Hi guys, since the latest update i noticed that when i long hold on homescreen the process has changed.well somehow it now shrinks the homescreen as if i was in the old editing menu but then i accidentally added a few blank home screens.before this update the old menu made it easy to delete these but now i cant nav to where i delete the extra screens i created?im sure its simple but its annoying me.help greatly appreciated.
