Thanks GW
I commented on yours on XDA
All files posted on XDA, including WL Theme (post 26091)
The Home Sceen wallpaper involved lots of manipulation of the original wall that was posted on XDA.
Files also now on dropbox link.
Cheers

Gw, I'm having problems getting that vertical line you and a few others have between the hour and minutes to line up properly with minimalist text. Is that the app you're using and if so could you give any advice on how to get it to stay lined up and centered?

Try make your clock widget. Most people with that vertical line are using that, I used it on mine for a while and it's MUCH easier to use

Really enjoying everyone's work on here, this is my first feeble effort.
Custom background image
LauncherPro Plus
Desktop Visualizer using transparent.png
I was going for a "retro feel", hence the 60/70/80s style, so, from the top:
The wall lights gives me a white screen light (Color Flashlight by Notes)
The "Home Sweet Home" picture links to the photo gallery (Quickpic)
The clock and battery (Micro Clock Widget 1x1 by Factory Widgets and Circle Battery widget overlaid)
Dimmer Switch used for adjusting screen brightness (Brightness Control by Stereotypez)
The coffee mug opens messaging (Go SMS Pro)
The letter rack opens Gmail
Retro desktop calendar opens ermm... the calendar (done using a downloaded Make Your Clock widget by Thomas Hubalek)
The camera - guess what that does!
The books open my bookmarks
The market bag icon - another obvious one!
The torch lights the camera LED.
The bottom 3 in the dock are the usual Phone, Apps Drawer and Browser
All the above take care of my most used functions on the phone.
I'm still working on a design for the other home screens for music/video/games etc.

That's awesome!! I guessed most of it and that's what's so cool about it... no hidden functions, just a background that shows it all

Hi Peeps Haven't been in this thread since I lost my Nexus One last year. I decided to stay away from any of the 'Show me your desktop/home screens' type tread as it became depressing looking at everyone's layout and me not having an Android phone.
I've never posted pictures here because I wasn't rooted and was too lazy to go the SDK route, although I did comment I just recently got an Atrix and rooted it so I'm happy to say, I can FINALLY show off my lovely home screens to y'all Though it's nothing compared to NightOwl, mykela or everyone else for that matters
Helicopter view:
Screen1:

Widgets: NotesEverything and ToDoList (scrollable and you can check off items from the list)
Screen2:

Widgets: Scrollable News, AudioManager (Slidey skin), PowerAmp
Main Screen:

Wigets: battery monitor free, gtabSiMiClock, Executive Assistance, Widgetsoid
Screen4:
Widget: Small Agenda, My Days, CircleLauncher
For Icons I'm using a mixture of LP Icons, Poor Richard and Tolken by brsev. Tolken is the best but it's very limited, thus the other icon packs, lol.
Anyway, that's all
Cheers,
Roze
P.S. Wallpaper is the Matrix Live Wallpaper. Also if you're wondering what the red glow is, it's an app called Taskie where I can swipe and move from app to app, no more back button!

I've changed the Matrix LWP to red so that it matches taskie
Been going back on all of the posts I've missed since last year and just looking at all of the fine layouts everyone has posted. Don't have time to read 5 months of posts though

1. copy the zip file to data/com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker/themes (I use Adao File Manager)
2. click on file to extract (or long press extract)
3. this will then create the folder under themes
4. theme will be displayed from within custom slider option

Hi all, I'm a new smartphone/Android user with a swanking new Motorola Defy which I love to bits. I just went through all the entire thread and I just had to register to post!
I am very impressed by 1)how creative everyone is 2)how nice people are to share their materials/ideas.I've some questions I don't recall seeing the answers to (spending 3 hours browsing android forums and the app market is not a good idea)...
1) How long do u take to do up ur homescreen?
2) Is it necessary for the phone to be root for such customisation?
I ask because I saw some talk about ROMs and as I'm not a techie, I'm wary about rooting my very new phone.
3) Is it also a must to have Beautiful Widgets?
Currently I'm using Go launcher. Tried Launcherpro before too, but i like Go because I can change the bg of the app drawer. Using Fancy Widget cuz I haven't decided if I wanna shell out the money for BW.
That's about all.. for now

Welcome to AndroidForums rayche That's one of the first thing I did when I got my Nexus One, combed through this and other similar threads. I hope you took notes of all the apps that you liked while you went through the thread.
No you do not need to root to customize your home screens. If you want to theme your phone, then you'd have to root like changing all of the fonts or changing the look or hacking widgets and customize it even more.
Beautiful widgets have a lot of options and allow you the ability to customize. Do you need it? No, there are other free weather widgets out on the market that you can use
Cheers,
Roze

I've been following this thread for a while and I'm a huge fan =). I'm finally posting screen shots of my first try at customizing the screens on my android phone!
widgets and apps:
beautiful weather, EmotiSun skin
make your clock widget
minimalistic text
Multipicture live wallpaper
I got the background from flikie wallpapers

Pure calendar widget
Smooth calendar
Multipicture life wallpaper
Background is from flikie
