Thanks mjmonsada
This and the two other screens stayed on my phone for at least a week, which was an all time record
Apps you need
1. Multipicture Live Wallpaper
to place 3 images which results in a 'seamless' widescreen when moving between the 3 screens
2. Desktop Visualiser
to place transparent images over the relevant text at the bottom to open the apps associated with the respective shortcut links
3. LauncherPro to place the Dock image of the highlight pen and link the shortcuts to 'text, mail, phone'
You will also need the LP Plus version to enable you to resize the Widgets over the text in point 2 above (there are others that are free that also allow resizing eg GoLaucher etc)
4. SimiClock for the clock
Brief comments on images
a) wall from wallbase.net (Saturation applied to mine as it was a little 'lifeless' without this)
b) text at bottom created in photoshop with shortcut links placed as seen
c) placement of various widgets on the other two screens
NB
d) Certain text was added to the 'blackboard' on a later version of this design where I replaced the bottom highlight dock with chalk images on the top part of the screen by handwriting with the mouse and using a 'chalk' type filter etc
You should find that in My Modified Walls in Dropbox Gallery
(my preferred look of this design maybe you'll like it too )
I think all images should be in my Dropbox Gallery and have been posted with the various posts for this image and are available for both 480x800 screens and Galaxy Tab 600x1024 screens
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Geez, everyone has a different taste and a different opinion on what "looks good" and what not. Live and let live.
And now back to screenshot posting please

I'm having problems with the dock. I'm able to replace the default dock with the highlighter dock picture but I have no idea to link the shortcuts with the "phone text mail." The only thing i can do is remove the dock icons. Any idea what I'm missing/doing wrong?

It's a shame that background isn't a live weather widget. It would be awesome if the art changed with the weather.
Hmmm... maybe another project for me?...

I like to keep it clean. I keep my dock and notification shades hidden, gestures to show/hide. CyanogenMod CM7, RC4 on t-mobile g2.
My lock screen, rotary wheel. Pulling lock right = unlock, pulling sound left = mute/unmute. Center button pulls down to immediately go into SMS with a specific contact (my girl), because at least 50% of my having to unlock my phone is just to see what she texted.
My default screen. Minimalistic text custom widgets at the top (time/date) and bottom left (top row = battery life, bottom row = weather.) The clock icon is for xTreme Alarm, the RSS icon is SlashDot Frontpage. We pull to the left to reveal...
My second (and only other) desktop page. I revealed my dock at the bottom for symmetry. Icons are, from left to right, K = Kongregate app, N = n64oid, A = astro file manager, P = FPSe. The nes/snes/etc are their appropriate emulators. FM is stock FM radio app. My dock is market, SMS, browser, phone, and app launcher.
Wallpaper on DeviantART. Available here. It's not mine so I wouldn't feel right not showing the source.
Minimalistic text widget, minimalist ADW theme (white) for icons. I know it's not much to look at, but I like a clean look.

After you remove the default icons making them 'blank', long press on the doc image icons and select Custom icon and choose a transparent image 72x72 pixels. Also link to the Application you want to open ie Phone, Messaging, Gmail etc.
If you need there is a transparent.png in my Dropbox icons folder.
When you download from Dropbox, open the file first in Dropbox, then make sure you use the Save button at the bottom of the screen.
It will still look 'Black' or 'White' but when you select the transparent.png file in LP it will be truly transparent.
Right clicking and Saving from Dropbox will not be transparen!

i know someone somewhere said they had something in live wallpapers that had it change the wallpaper based on the weather. I know I'm not being helpful at all... besides just to say it IS possible, someone has done it!
p.s. love the homescreen, share a few deets for a newb on how you made it?

I know it may not be the same but changing the wallpaper to match the weather can be done with Tasker...here is the link --> http://androidforums.com/android-applications/158265-what-tasker-profiles-everyone-using-11.html#post2550653

People using SMS Unread, how do you change the colour of the circle from red to blue? is this a MOD or is there an option somewhere?

Thanks!!
I used multipicture live wallpaper and set the crop/size ratio to "show entire picture." And I set the background color as black. That's how I got the entire wallpaper to show on one screen with the black spaces above and below the wallpaper.
The weather is beautiful widgets, emotisun (or something like that) skin
The clock is make your clock widget
the battery percentage, day of week, and date is minimalistic text
I also thought it'd be cool if the wallpaper could change with the weather... There's a "weather girl" widget who changes clothes with the weather... https://market.android.com/details?id=ro.noelx.android.wg3&feature=search_res ult I tried it but I didn't think it worked that well. Maybe you could make a better one, and make it look cuter like the wallpaper!

Here's what I've got at the moment:
That's right. It's Batman.
edit: and yes, sevenofnine, I totally stole your formats for makeyourownclock and minimalistic text.
oh and if anyone has any suggestions for how to make things look a little better... like i said, new at this and i'd appreciate the help

Do you have the app drawer icon in white as well I'll still take black if that's all you got :P

The missed call/text/mail is just SMS Unread with transparent pngs. The icons are part of the wallpaper, the bubbles are a purple sms unread mod. HERE it is if u want it. Yes the batt/temp is minimalistic text. I can never go without MT on my screens lol. And the app drawer icon is my own creation. if there are specific colors you want I wud be happy to make one for you. The one on my screen is in my dropbox under MISC icons. Its titled MYLAUNCHER2. theres are 3 versions in there. If you want a different color just let me know though. DROPBOX link for you. Oh, and the emails....*hangs head in shame* sadly they are NOT all spam lol

Some seriously unique ones here! How hard is it for a newbie to design my own theme? Am hoping there are lots of nice ones I can download once I get my phone, to get me started at least.

The icons are the default ones from the GO Launcher, not many there unfortunately.
I may just create some text icons to replace them ... or grab an icon set from somewhere ...
My HTC Desire is my testbed for my "soon to arrive" SGS II (due 4th May-ish)

haha, too bad :/ those icons are really nice...similar to the silver icons I have. The only problem is that there aren't that many icons in the pack and it's PC base and not Android base, so half of them are unusable for me.
You're getting the SGS2...damn I'm jealous. Well I wouldn't trade my Atrix for the world...but still the SGS2 is one of the phone that's a head turner for me.

There are a lot of great ideas in here!
Well, here's what I've got right now. Using ADW and desktop visualizer:
Believe it or not, I actually did that one entirely in Paint.
And my Widget Locker:
A little messier than I usually like, but I still think it's pretty cool.

None from me unfortunately. I'm too busy with silly things like "graduating" and "finding a job."

WIP. Learning some new things in GIMP. I made the "polaroid"pic frames .Major feat for me LOL since the tutorial made no sense to me so i was mostly on my own.
Need a few more icons and looking for a new dock bar. The icons i do have are
White_wall_text_icons_by_MrPorter. , not sure where i got them...devianart or the icon thread on xda.
Just started using fancy widget.

Not really my desktop, but as I recently flashed over to CM7 stable I decided to wipe my data/cache and start from scratch. In the process of building my UI from the ground up, I began with a custom lock screen, as shown below.
The bottom # after $su is the iPhone style unlock slider. The block under $sysinfo is my battery percentage, outside temps, date, and time. The APKs in the #rm com.ETC.apk are the day of the week and the weather conditions. The rest is just a wallpaper I made in photoshop.
Made with WidgetLocker and Minimalistic Text. Had a bit of an inspiration and just ran with it.
