Default Home screen icons

I have 4 icons on the bottom of my screen that remain when the screens are moved left or right. Can these icons be moved, I would like to replace the Messaging one with my Email icon? Android 2.3.3.

i dont remember if this works on stock ROMS..
try these
1) long press email icon in menu to bring it to the homescreen.
drag that icon to the 4 bottom icons (its the dockbar) over the messaging..
it should replace it.
2) download ADW launcher and use the above method to it.
it will work surely in it..

Thanks, but it doesn't work; when long pressing the Email icon on the homescreen, the dockbar is replaced by the 'Remove' bar.

try long pressing the message icon..
maybe that pops up (as it does in my Oxygen ROM) right now..
if not, u'll have to opt for another launcher..
and dont sweat, they dont hog up battery and are pretty awesome to use and modify..
try the ADW..

You didnt mention what phone you are in, but my guess is Samsung with stock TouchWiz?

Go into app drawer, press menu button and select edit. Drag the messaging icon out of the dock below, then drag the email app onto it. Press back, and you're done.
