Create Clean Icons from Images
Hi all,
I recently extracted and edited the icons that I keep in my dock to match two themed icons I downloaded (ICS Blue Messaging and Dialer). However, when I change the icon (I'm using Nova Launcher on ARHD) it comes up with a white background (UGLY). I'm not much of a photo editor, so can anyone tell me how I can create the icon to not have the background? I'm assuming it'd technically be a transparent background?
Thanks!!

I use gimp and when i make icons etc there is a box along the left side for layers, paths, etc where you can check/uncheck layers. Uncheck or delete the layer that gets rid of the white background. did you add an alpha channel at the beginning? I f I understand it correctly you need to do this so that when you delete the white background you have a transparent one .
Doubt that this helped but thought I'd try

Can I just change the extension or do I have to recreate them? If I have to recreate them, I saw no way of creating it as a .png instead of a .jpg (I used PhotoShop Touch). I originally extracted them as .png's so I don't know where they were switched...
You can try to rename it but i dont know if that will work. Otherwise when you saved the original you made if you would of named whatever. then added png instead of jpg you probably would of been good to go .

Well I gave it a shot but I didnt do you any good. I got rid if the white background but the edges left around your icons are really poor quality. I am not familiar with the themes and launcher you mentioned but have you tried looking for the icons/help at XDA forums. There seems to be much more activity and many more technically experienced people there than here .
