Default Small Icons on the Home screen

Hello Guys

I am trying to understand on how to make the existing icons smaller in size in the home screen so that I can accommodate more icons and customize them.

Is there any app for the same or can it be customized without rooting the Os ?

The "home screen" is the launcher. There are at least a dozen different major launchers in the Play store (and many more not so well known ones). Some of them allow you to change the number of rows and columns, and adjust the icon size automatically. Download some, play with them and use the one you prefer. No rooting or other warranty-risking activity required.

however a lot of launcher might require you to buy the full version. Ive used both Nova and Holo launcher which allow you to resize icons

I would say most of good lauchers are paid... unfortunately... )
But anyway you won't be able to resize the app icons as you want. The system will do in a way it "thinks" right.

I would say most good launchers are worth the small price to keep the dev working on them. I use Nova Launcher and you can reside the homescreen icons and add more columns and rows
