Two options -
Easiest - visit this page on your phone. Long press an image and it will ask you to save it.
Or right-click in your pc web browser and save to your hard drive, connect your phone and via usb transfer the image to the SD card and then access wallpaper via that method.

Early on I posted about G1 Wallz - I found another site I will trying Android Wallpapers section of Androlib It looks like it might have some good wallpapers.
Anyone else using Wallr to enjoy various backgrounds? My background library is getting big, I might need a new SD card soon.
I found this site that has high res wallpapers. It doesn't have the exact Android resolution, but if you download at Fullscreen 5:4, it works really well.

One issue with this site, all wallpaper download with the same file name...I don't like that at all.
Did you try 320:480 as that is the G1 and most current Android devices screen depth?
See, now, I wasn't sure of the resolution for Android, but yes, your absolutely right. Much better now that I'm not loaded with gigantic files for background images. Thanks.

Right that of course was the other result...large files to. For future readers, not every Android OS will be this resolution, so check your specs before you complain the background looks distorted. There is a spec for a larger and a smaller screen.

Actually, I jumped the gun, downloading from Interfacelift, the 320x480 option is a portrait orientation and not landscape. So it's more fitting an iPhone than it is a 3 screen Android desktop. But it is good to know your screen resolution to get the most effective wallpaper considering resolution and file size.

And of course...I just realized from your post that I too jumped the gun...Android (G1) works best with a 640x480 for a 3 screen android desktop. Of course I did check their site and they don't have one. But I am going to write them right now, directing them to this thread.
Whats really weird is that I dl'ed a pic from the internet and it was letting me crop the whole pic and now it wont let me crop the whole pic what do you think might of happened?

if any of you guys out there love customizing wallpapers or have nothing better to do lol, i would like to get a wallpaper for my droid using white sox pics. i have seen 2-3 pics online that i'd like to use for it. if anyone is interested, let me know. i dont get the droid til next week, and i wouldn't know how to do it anyways. i'd really appreciate it!
Gotta love the variety of all the wallpapers. I have attached a few wallpapers that I created...Can't wait to throw them on my droid. Hope everyone else likes...
Posted up a bunch on Flickr (620x480 for Hero/Eris). Theese were quickies from some texture shots I took at the mall today. Feel free to use any you like.
Most are sized right for Droid. I like the official Android guy so he is in most of them. They are not all created by me.
The CORRECT size for wallpapers for Droid is 854 H x 960 W. Because you know that the wallpaper scrolls 1/2 to the right and 1/2 to the left. This is not the native resolution (854x480) which is a static dimension on the screen.

Reason: added res info.
Hey all, just signed up. I just bought the domain www.freeandroidbackgrounds.com (i know, lame name but hey - it's all they had!) and I will be going live with it in a month or so. You will be able to pick from mine or upload your own.
Here is a basic 3D android dude I whipped up last night. Cheers!
This will take you to the main wallpapers page. Clicking on an image brings up a larger version of it. Then below the image are links to various different image sizes. Right below those links there is a button that says "Download for Mobile Phone." Clicking this button shows a menu with various different small screen sizes. All they way to the right then is the 640x480 link.
Some of these images are just amazing.
(Damn, this is double posted because I clicked the wrong button)
I had to come back and thank you for posting this link. So many incredibly gorgeous images...now all I have to do is settle on just one for my phone. I've narrowed it down to about 20 favorites. Thanks again for the site!
I have 30+ good walls for the Droid that I need to resize. I will edit this post when I manage to do them all (most likely later tonight). The correct dimensions for the Droid are 854 x 960 landscape, right?
Edit: Ok. 30+ turned out to be 124. :\ Took me 2 hours to do. I'm uploading now.
Edit 2: Ok. I'll post the links.
Edit 3: I was going to post all the links but I figured an rar file would be easier. Uploading AGAIN. Remember, it's 124 files.
the qr codes are for moto doid (960×854)... other sizes are available on the site with their respective qr codes. just click the thumbs link for 640x480 or 480x320.

Too funny!.... Isn't someone who ate and apple the one that started this mess in the first place?...... ah.. maybe it wasn't an apple.
Reality is.. Apple raised the bar... Now Google raised the bar again... "somehow I don't give credit to Verizon or Moto"...... Then apple will try to raise it again.. .and on we go.
Too Bad At&T is stuck in the mud... aren't those guys called "mud-ducks?"
Apple mad a boo boo by not going with Verizon in the first place... how that Google is in the picture.... I think Google has the bigger camp of geeks.... I'm not sure if apple will be able to keep up.
