Actually, if I understand what you're asking, a normal wallpaper for a phone with that screen resolution should be 960w x 854h.
here's a wallpaper template that size where the red area is what will be visible on the center screen. Hope that helps.
Make sure to save it at the full 960x800 resolution.

Since you are the wallpaper guru, thought I'd ask - I'm in the process of learning new things on Corel PSP and wanted to make a batch of simple wallpapers for my tutorials. What's the most common res I should make them, jik others want them? My screen is lower res than most other Droids, so I was wondering what the vast majority was.
Thx, Mp

Hey, best of luck! Be sure to post up any you think are good.
I'd definitely say 960 pix wide x 800 pix high is the most common wallpaper size these days, as it's the ideal size for phones with a 480x800 screen. That size also works pretty darn well for almost all other resolutions, with minimal cropping. 960x854, the best size for most Motorolas, also works well. Just make sure not to get what you really want visible too close to the top or bottom.
need a favor. My wife somehow deleted her pictures, along with her wallpapers. She loves the pic of a big red couch on the beach, waves coming up behind it, etc. I remember seeing on this board somewhere, but am way to lazy to go through all the posts. Anybody know of and have the pic I am looking for? If so, please post it.
Hey there, Love the honeycomb wallpaper but when I went to convert the sharks photo to the droid x specs it lost some quality and clarity. If it isn't too much of a hassle would you mind creating the sharks one by the 960x854 sizing. Thanks again.

Here is a new wallpaper project i have made from scratch,
i have made it simpel and clean to make it more elegant
If any interests, i can make more models, send me a pm if so
My screen is 800x480 so my walls are 960x800 (you can adjust size to fit your own screen if not this size)
I love Colorful walls and I love Avatar. so 4 are from Avatar. 1 is from a Printer Display that I love and kept a copy to scan
and of course Plavalaguna GOT to have my Plavalaguna :-)
My favorites are Neytiri 2 (the colors just look spectacular) and Plavalaguna.
Is there anyway to make the top bar transparent or to SKIN the top bar (I can not use metamorph since it requires busybox and for some reason busy box will not install on my device (something to do with me running a custom froyo rom made for the touch pro 2 winmo phone ??)
Enjoy as I make more I will post them.
Found another REALLY nice one. this one like Neytiri 2 looks particularly nice on the TP2 screen.
Zhann from Farscape (can you tell I have a thing for blue people :-) hehe

I can't stop thinking there must be a setting somewhere I can adjust to fix this: I have a Motorola Photon and took a nice picture this afternoon that I'd like to use as my wallpaper.
The only way (I know of) to set a personal photo/image as my wallpaper is to open the image I want, click Save As, select Wallpaper. Then the image is displayed with a crop box over it. That box will only allow a square shape to be used. Even when I stretch it as far as that square will let it go, and then view the new wallpaper, it's blurry and not good at all.
Is there a way to save the image exactly the size it was created? After all, it's a perfect fit on the screen.
My guess is the setting you need to change is the resolution your taking your pictures at. IE I am betting it somehow got set to a "lower" resolution than the native resolution of your sensory.
Here is a few i cropped to use on my Vivid.
Hopefully someone can use one
Click on thumbnail then when image opens click it again to get the full size then save image.I'll add more later this week.
540x960

Ok, I did a little bit of doodling in photoshop and I came up with a wallpaper of a dirty thunderstorm. (I think they look really cool!) The image came of of google image search and was cropped and slightly altered by me.
Perhaps somebody will enjoy this :-)

I dislike busy wallpaper. On my old droid, I found a program that allowed me to create my own theme colors. Mine was just a graduated grey-green. However, I can't remember how I created this or what the name of the program was. Anyone have suggestions for where to look?

Hello and welcome Coco.
Funny you should ask - I just made a few Kobe wallpapers for someone on another forum. Maybe you'll like them too.
These are sized at 1440x1280 to best fit the requestee's GNex, but should work well with most Androids as well.
Thumbs are a preview only - do not save!
To save them in full 1440x1280 resolution - Follow the link(s) bellow and long press the image on your phone until the save option pops up, Then find it in your photo gallery and set as wallpaper. If it looks fuzzy, you may be better off viewing it from a computer, right click and "save as", and finally transferring to you phone via USB or email.
