You don't need to make a hard reset on the remote control .. Just buy another remote control . maybe a keyboard , mouse and connect them to the ATv ..
Or smash it into the wall

Thank you.

The whole document would be great as the online translator seems to miss out on or misinterprets some critical points making them counterintuative.

Have you tried this fix? http://androidforums.com/google-tv/338651-android-tv-box-flexiview-fv-1-a-13.html#post3428996 Doing those steps helped me fix my Android Market issue and now I can see all apps (not just limited selection like before).

We believe that this is a bug in the native code interface to Android. We have found the source code from Amlogic

We believe the bug is likely in a libamplayer.so but some investigation is needed.

We need someone who can download the source, fix the bug, then rebuild and help install the fix. This requires deep linux and Android skills.

Can anyone help us out?
Hi Dan, did you figure out this problem? I may be able to help.

Hi guys,

I also have a briked ATV2000 (full story available in whirlpool forum ;-).

I ordered a USB to 3.3V UART/232/TTY/serial "cable" with FTDI chipset from ebay and will try to unbrick mid of january next year using "putty" software and the KDG team instructions.

It seems that quite a few people have bricked ATV1000/ATV2000 units and I hope soon there will be many people with unbricked units!

Even if the video title is about an "Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Firmware Preview" for ATV series, the last frames of video show a new device: the "Enjoy TV Nano 3"!
It means they are going to launch a new one that supports it ...

I think that contact support@geniatech.com is the best solution, they will help you on this, perhaps will send you a serial adapter for updating the box.

have devloped a technique to unbrick a thw atv 300, 1000 and 2000.

Basically it is reprograming or reviving uboot and some other stuff via the unit's ttl interface.

I am in the process of trying to unbrick an ATV 1000 clone

Now the problem is that it requires a RS232 to ttl converter to get the info from a PC to the TV Box. I got one from China. The next problem is the connectors for the ttl interface on the TV Box. They are too small for the ones supplied with the RS 232 to TTL converter. It can accommodate three of the four connectors (Rx, Tx and VCC) and I have found a common earth point for the fourth.

The next problem is a PC with an RS232 output. They are not common on newer PCs. I have two old laptops with RS232 outputs but one would not boot and the other only has a 3.5" floppy and no USB port. I do not have a way of transferring the program to it as no other computer I have operational has a a 3.5" floppy drive.

As a result I am currently building up a new very basic PC from bits and pieces I have laying around.

Then I think I have to install and learn a bit of Linux to be able to use it.

And finally the instructions are in Spanish and require some deep thought when interpreting the English translation.

I would love to trade experiences with anyone else trying to unbrick their units.

I think that contact support@geniatech.com is the best solution, they will help you on this, perhaps will send you a serial adapter for updating the box.

Any special TTL is no needed! Simple ttl cable on RS232 with TX, RX and GND.
For ATV1000 or ATV2000 you need only basic spi_M3_512.bin - that file we need form Geniatech support. But i think you can use spi from one spi update package.

Remember You do it at their own risk! I recommend that only to people with experience with linux or router developer.

Recovery procedure is here (I use it on bricked ATV300).
Serial manual.pdf - 4shared.com - document sharing - download

1st clear the nand, 2nd Load spi and 3rd load update image. Done.

and another thing is some app in market are not there. i can easily install them on my tablet, but can not see them on market. i ll have to look at that guite posted earlier on somewhere about this

It will be released in February 2012. One of the distributors (iconBit) has announced that it will upgrade to all ATV models with min. 512MB Ram.

This is good news that will put the gadget ATV Android 4.x

But it may not have yet fully braced version 2.3.4 and are jumping 4.x without the prior apuntular above.

I think a big mistake. Not take out the version 4.x (this is fine), but it seems a great mistake that is not finished developing the previous 2.3.4

It is my understanding that both are based on “update_spi20111102.zip” version but you could also apparently use “update_spi20111028_all_2.3.zip” from the above download. The extraction to “spi_M3_256.bin” is the same.

You get “spi_M3_256.bin” from the MyGica site, MyGica Enjoy TV productos para Television Digital | Android TV | Smartv | WebTv | Multimedia,

Download UBoot and recovery for 1102 and 1104 firmware from the left hand icon and the 1102 firmware from the centre icon.

The UBoot and recovery file downloaded is named “update_spi20111102.zip”

The download from the centre icon is called Mygica_update20111102.zip. This has Android 2.3 Gingerbread plus the working “You Tube”

Unzip “update_spi20111102.zip” and you will find a number of zip files. The ones that we need are:

uboot_M3_256.img
uboot_M3_512.img
uboot_M3_512F.img

One of these will match your machine.
uboot_M3_256.img is for the ATV300
uboot_M3_512.img is for ATV1000-2000
uboot_M3_512F.img is for ATV1000-2000 with a label underneath something like XXV2XXXXX512.

Simply select the correct “uboot” file and rename it to “spi_M3_256.bin”. (Note that this renaming may not be technically correct but will save you having to remember to change the keying in when you get to it)

Default Geniatech new android 2.3 20111228 firmware-- testing verison

Here is
Geniatech new android 2.3 20111228 firmware-- testing verison"

Download and don't unzip, change the file name /format to update.img, copy to SD card, connect sd card to the box, and go to setting->privacy->update system to update. the requirement is you are using android 2.3 20111102 verison. and then you can update to above new version.

No need to update SPI this time.

Fixed problem:
youtube 1080P video playback smoothly.
Improved video play back with video player
boot screen display problem.
....... and so on.

Hi
I'm a new owner of an ATV 1000 and find that the spi is really old (earlier than 20110906) and therefore want to update. I've found 20110907SPI and will use that first but the geniatech download links for 20111102 all seem to be broken - does anyone have a copy that I can download?

Default Web Tv and live streaming

A new thread with apps and links to Web Tv and live streaming:
http://androidforums.com/google-tv/473812-web-tv-live-streaming-apps-links.html#post3731732

I invite everyone to collaborate and share their favourite apps and links.

For a smoothly vision, as already told by other members (enviro8), I suggest you
never try to update the inbuilt flashplayer, because this version (10.2.157.51) is
specifically made for our ARM7 processor and, additionally, it provides hardware
accelleration to videos in flash.

I would suggest you sequentially and carefully upgrade. Remember to save all your apps to you SD card as the upgrades will delete them

As the TV box is rooted, you can use any of the apps saving programs that work only on a rooted device.

I have prepared an upgrade How To and have saved the Geniatec that are no longer available from Geniatec to the Megaupload site. The other uploads should still be working, the My Gica ones are.

The How To follows

UPGRADE TV BOX TO ANDROID 2.3.4

For those who are interested in an upgrade path for their TV Box to Android Version 2.3.4 and probably beyond, the following method will allow you to do so and further updates are expected for the foreseeable future.

WARNING

READ THROUGH BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING

THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES ARE CARRIED AT YOUR OWN RISK AND NEITHER I NOR THE WEBSITES OR FORUMS TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY IF THEY FAIL AND YOU DISABLE YOUR TV BOX.

INTRODUCTION

This method is for the Geniatech Enjoy ATV 1000 Android TV Box and its re-badged, NeoniQ, GTV 220 and MyGica ATV1000. I have successfully used the method on the last two and it should also work with the other two.

The methods are describes throughout the various posts at http://androidforums.com/google-tv/408166-geniatech-enjoy-tv.html.

I have used the information from the various posts and accumulated them into this method and, hopefully, resolved some of the confusion generated by the posts.

The method involves taking the box back to the starting point of Android version 2.2.5 Update 20110909. This can also be done if you had previously upgraded to Android Version 2.3 using Update20111010_Kgdtea_beta1.

The first few steps require each of the updates to be renamed “update.zip” to install and the final ones to be renamed “update.img”. Note one is “.zip” and the other is an “.img” files.

Further the first few can be updated using “Settings -> Privacy -> Update system” while the last few require you:
a) to remove the SD card,
b) unplug power lead from the socket,
c) hold in the black button underneath,
d) plug in the power while holding in the button.

A blue light will appear first then a red light.

When the red light appears release the black button.

The unit will show the message “Update failed”.

Simply insert the SD card with the “update.zip” and select the “3.apply sdcard:update.zip” option in the Recovery system main menu: or if this option is not available, the “1.reboot now” option

Further, at one of the update stages, the unit will reboot to the Recovery mode continuously. This is only temporary until the next update is applied.

The final version has Market, a special 10.2 version of FlashPlayer and plays YouTube correctly as well as solving the component out problems. Further, Crackle movies play very well but ABC IView still has problems YOU SHOULD NOT UPDATE FLASHPLAYER if asked.

The downside of this sequence is that future updates must be via the “.img” route as the “.zip” method is not supported.

Now importantly, if you do not like the results of the method, then you can go back to Android 2.2.

METHOD

STEP 1:
Taking the box back to the start point from either Android 2.2 or Android 2.3 if the Update20111010_Kgdtea_beta1 method was used.

Update20110909.zip
This will take your Android 2.2 unit back to a base start point for Android 2.2. It will also take Android 2.3 update (if you used update20111010_Kgdtea_beta1.zip) back to Android 2.2.

Download, do not unzip, copy it to blank SD card, rename to “update.zip” and use either boot method to update your box.

When installed open “Settings -> About device”

You should have the following:
Android version 2.2.5
Build number 20110909
Don’t worry about the others yet.

You can download it here:

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

STEP 2:
This is a “SPI” update and will install Uboot version 1.3.5 and Recovery version 1.2.9. These help to set up the TV box for updating to Android 2.3

Update20110907SPI.zip
Download the file and, this time only, unzip it. Open the unzipped folder and drill down until you get to three .zip files; update_sp1_256.zip, update_spi_512.zip and update_spi_512F.zip.

The numbers 256MB and 512MB refer to the internal memory size and 512F refers to the Android 2.2 or above versions of the TV box with 512MB of internal memory.

The label on the back of the TV box will indicate which one to choose. Both mine were 512 MB and the Version numbers were GTV 220 (Android 2.2.0) and the MyGica serial number was M3V224xxxxxxx showing they were both version 2.2. In my case the 512F.zip file was the correct one.

Do not unzip “512F.zip”, copy it to a blank SD card, rename to “update.zip” and use either boot method to update your box.

When installed open “Settings -> About device”

You should have the following:

Android version: 2.2.5
Uboot version 1.3.5
Recovery version 1.2.9
Kernel version Does not matter
Build number 20110909

You can download it here:

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

STEP 3
This is a “SPI” update and will install Uboot version 1.3.6 and Recovery version 1.3.0 so that you can update to Android 2.3.4.

This update will cause you TV box to cycle continuously in the recovery mode. This will be temporary until the next step is applied.

Before proceeding, download and read through the upgrade instructions making sure you look at the screen shots. This will give comfort.

You can download it here:

http://androidforums.com/attachments/google-tv/23377d1319891184-geniatech-enjoy-tv-android-2.3-upgrading-instruction.pdf

UpdateSPI20111028ALL2.3

Download but do not unzip, copy it to a blank SD card and rename to “update.zip”.

Do not inset SD card at this stage but use the power plug/reset button to reboot your machine.

It will reboot and stop in the Recovery system mode with a message at the bottom saying “Update failed”.

Insert your SD card and select “3.apply sdcard:update.zip” and the TV box will reboot and cycle to the recovery mode again.

Remove the SD card and proceed to Step 4

You can download it here:

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

STEP 4
This is the actual Android 2.3.4 update and will update the TV box to 2.3.4 and loads a special form of FlashPlayer 10.2 but it does not have Market.

From here on in, the updates must be the form “UPDATE.IMG”. Note the .IMG extension.

Update20111028

Download but do not unzip, copy it to a blank SD card, rename to “update.img” and insert it in the TV box.

You should be in the System recovery mode with a message saying “Update failed”.

Select “1.reboot system now”

The update then will proceed. Be patient because there are some blank screens that appear from time to time.

When installed open “Settings -> About device”

You should have the following:

Android version: 2.3.4
Uboot version 1.3.6
Recovery version 1.3.0
Kernel version Does not matter
Build number 20111028

You can download it here:

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

STEP 5
You could stop at this stage but you will miss out on some functionality and goodies provided by this and the next associated update.

This is a “SPI” update and currently the final update of the series and fixes a component video problem.

You need to open the My Gica firmware download site from here:

MyGica Enjoy TV productos para Television Digital | Android TV | Smartv | WebTv | Multimedia

Select and download update_SPI20111102.zip from the right download icon.

UpdateSPI20111102

Download but do not unzip, copy it to a blank SD card, rename to “update.img” and insert it in the TV box.
Reboot your TV box using the power plug method. Your SD card could be inserted before you reboot.

If not inserted, the TV box will go to the System recovery mode with a message saying “Upgrade failed”.

Insert SD card and select “1.reboot system now”

The update then will proceed. Be patient because there are some blank screens that appear from time to time.

When installed open “Settings -> About device”

You should have the following:

Android version: 2.3.4
Uboot version 1.3.6
Recovery version 1.3.0
Kernel version Does not matter
Build number 20111102

You can download it from the MyGica website, right download icon from here:

MyGica Enjoy TV productos para Television Digital | Android TV | Smartv | WebTv | Multimedia

STEP 6
This loads the special form of FlashPlayer 10.2 that fixes the YouTube problem and fixes the component problem and has Market

You need to open the My Gica firmware download site from here:

MyGica Enjoy TV productos para Television Digital | Android TV | Smartv | WebTv | Multimedia

Select and download Mygica_update20111102.zip from the centre download icon.

Update20111102

You can download it from the MyGica website, middle download icon from here:

MyGica Enjoy TV productos para Television Digital | Android TV | Smartv | WebTv | Multimedia

BACK TO ANDROID 2.2

If you decide to go back to Android 2.2 or the Android 2.3 version using update20111010_Kgdtea_beta1, then the following is for you.

This is a “SPI” update and takes you back to Android 2.2.

UpdateSPIALL2.2

Download but do not unzip, copy it to a blank SD card, rename to “update.img” and insert it in the TV box. Reboot your TV box using the power plug method. Your SD card could be inserted before you reboot.

If not inserted, the TV box will go to the System recovery mode with a message saying “Upgrade failed”.

Insert SD card and select “1.reboot system now”

The update then will proceed. Be patient because there are some blank screens that appear from time to time.

You can download it here:

http://androidforums.com/attachments/google-tv/23434d1320147264-geniatech-enjoy-tv-update_spi_all_2.2.zip

So now you should be back to Android 2.2

CONCLUSION
Having updated to Android you have Market access, can play YouTube and no longer have component video problems and are on a pathway to future enhancements, but do not forget – DO NOT UPDATE FLASHPLAYER FROM THIS SPECIAL 10.2 VERSION LEST YOU LOSE YOU TUBE PLAYERBILITY!

ENJOY!

No need to update SPI this time.

Fixed problem:
youtube 1080P video playback smoothly.
Improved video play back with video player
boot screen display problem.
....... and so on.
I was using the My Gica 20111102 version and the udate failed so I reloaded the Geniatec version as well as the associated SPI file just in cae. It also failed.

Both failed verification.

I re-downloaded and tried again but I again got a verification failure.

Anyone else tried?

Anyone else got it going?

Upgrade from menu and everything is fine.
Before this update I upgraded with MediaTech firmware but I think that's not important.

SETTING---PRIVACY---UPDATE SYSTEM
If the card with the update.img is plugged in , you don't need to navigate through the recovery menu.

Hello.

You said you need to have installed (earlier) version 20111102.

Not have been more correct to say that we must have at least version 20111102 (version 20111102 or higher)...?.

A greeting.
