I am running android version 2.3.4 kernel version 2.6.34 v1.3.0.33
I have updated the google services framework and market using root explorer so that the market is on version 3.4.4 build and i can pretty much download any app from the market. Ive downloaded voodoo ota rootkeeper so that i can watch movies from market too ( so that it hides the root) . Whilst HD movies stutter normal ones dont and thats the same for bbci player , itv player 4od and the modified sky go app from xda. Perfectly acceptable watching on all of them. Apart from getting the box to play content from my external hard drive now Ive got it running pretty much as i'd wish.
Before the iplayer and flash player updates this week i would have agreed with you that it was pointless as it was stuttering and not worth bothering with . But im well pleased with the performance now..

Interesting.
I take it you got the instructions from here?
http://androidforums.com/google-tv/442783-video-guides-tests-previews-geniatech-devices.html

If not can you please point me in the right directions for what you have done.
I guess I also need a link to the orig Geniatech version of Flash 10.2 (with the hardware support). That way I have a way to back out Flash 11 in case I am not happy with the results.
Any help appreciated.

MD.

Default ATV2000 DVB-T missing application

Anyway to cut a long story short it's a poor media player with good hardware let down by the software. Oh yes there are no manuals at all so your completely reliant on guesswork.

It is powered by an Amilogic 8726 chipset with a 1GHz Cortex A9 CPU and Mali400 GPU with hardware acceleration for H.264, MPEG2 and VC-1. 1080p WMV samples played fine and H.264 1080p video I have with average bitrate of 40Mbps played fine for the most part so that's it's upper limit.

1) The supplied media player software from Geniatech played most media formats I threw at it but the software only reads USB sources, you must use another supplied app to mount network sources first but it doesn't work at all with my NAS refusing any supplied username/password even when there isn't one.

The remote control isn't really suited either to controlling the media player as your expected to use the virtual mouse to handle play/pause/rewind etc controls via an OSD.

2) Certain features do not work over ethernet like customizing the home screen (hold down left mouse button) in addition certain apps will not work over ethernet either like the Plex app so you must use wireless.

3) The built in HiDTV app did not work at all for me, I will re-test with the updated version available to download from Geniatech's website. Watch out the firmware update to this player will delete the HiDTV application.

4) Google market is only available when installing the firmware update above, it does work fine from there as does other markets like Amazon's app store.

5) Android compatibility is mixed as it is classed as an unknown phone so some apps will not be available, even if you do get them through other means some apps will not run and there is a major lack of any decent DLNA media player apps on the Android market so I've had no luck replacing the shoddy built in media player for network playback.

The Plex app is about the only decent front end available and it does work but in my tests I was getting audio sync problems but that could be down to my crappy wifi network but they were iPhone videos so should have been okay.

If they had actually developed a decent media center front end this could have been a pretty good media player but it's not and probably never will be until the official GoogleTV app store is up and running then someone makes an alternative media center program for Android.

Other odd's and end's;
About the missing HDMI resolution switcher, you can get that back by adding a shortcut on the home screen.
* Hold down the left mouse button on the remote
* Select shortcuts->settings
* then pick the display resolution shortcut

There is an Amilogic HDMI switcher in that apk collection linked above this could also be related.

Avoid QQLauncher after installing it locked up the box which then went into an automated recovery mode thankfully the firmware HT1 linked to was able to repair the damage. The box may already be rooted according to Titanium back up.

The remote is actually pretty decent for typing and browsing the web.

Don't plug in a USB mouse it causes the player to spaz out.

The firmware update change your browser homepage to Hantarex.it some sort of kiosk provider, Geniatech does business with them from the looks of it and it's just another item over looked.

The Eminent DLNA player was one of the few I could get to work and access my NAS and it was able able to play 720p/mkv videos no problem, now correct me if I'm wrong but Android does not natively support mkv and this DLNA app relies on native playback so it must be leveraging the built in Geniatech video player. The bad news is that Eminent was never designed to be used at 720p or higher and the video has overlay issues with the app. Maybe the developer could update his app as it seems the most promising.

I upgraded to beta ICS 4.0 my ATV2000 , after downgrade to 2.3.4 i lost the DVB application.
I installed the latest 1.9.2 Hidtv but when i try to start i receive the USB dongle missing...my DVB-T is built-in. help me please!!!

When I updated to ICS, I got the same message.

It appears that the HiDTV app is not yet compatible with ICS. We will have to wait until an update is released.

OK, I'll give it a go, but could do with a link to the Geniatech tweaked version of Flash 10.2 should I decide to back it out.
If anyone has this link I'd appreciate it.

Cheers

If you have carried out the Geniatech updates you should already have the tweaked market installed and running on your TV box.

To get a copy, all you need to do is to follow my post #984 and access it.

Then copy it and save it to your SD card where it will be available to be reinstlled.

Thanks again for all your trouble gio! Unfortunately, while not having used this box at all for a few days, the market will now crash upon selection of an application in 3.4.4, provided I have your permissions folder present. If I uninstall the updates and try it with 3.3.11, or move back to the original permissions folder, then the crashes are gone. To my surprise the usual tricks to stop the market from updating, involving market-updater and/or vending-updater, no longer seem any use, as it turns out the market is now perfectly able to update itself without either of these even being present at all...

Are you or is anyone else having the same issue?

you need to try more times before you can have results.
So, if you have (always) this message of error ("an error has occurred - Please try again later"), then

If your problem is another...please, you should specify better.

Hi gio965,

I reset the firmware, everything is ok. And then I tried to update permission folder , build.pro as your guide again, I couldn't access internet from web, market. v.v app.
I don't know reason why I got it.

Thanks

Hi retspan and ziczac, I can't give a certain answer but I can tell you that
I decided to realise my two videoguides only when I was sure of my results and
indeed I have never had problems.

At this moment, I have a 2.2.5 release (update20110909) and if you have the latest 2.3.4
(update20120111), probably, difference in firmware could be a reason of your issues.

Is there any other user that (with latest firmware) has successfully updated to
a complete Market, using permissions and/or fingerprint trick?

Then indeed, it's right to say that, if permissions trick has been tested by me, only on a 2.2.5
device...instead, fingerprint trick is a well-known method, tested by many android users
on more different devices and firmware releases, so at least, this one should work quietly.

I could suggest, as last solution (but in my opinion, it should be the first), a complete wipe
and the reinstallation of firmware, so that you can be sure to have made "tabula rasa"
(previously, you must take care to make a copy of your data and apps, using for example mybackup pro.apk),
then you should try these tricks separately, so that, more easily, you can understand the wrong passage.

Let me know (I hope positively)...

I have something very similar and you now must perform a recovery by connecting it up to a PC and flashing it.

I have not been successful.

The reference sites are:

KGDTeam • Ver Tema - Recovery por RS232 los Mygica ATV300 - ATV1000 - ATV2000

Which is Spanish, and

ICONBIT.RU • ???????? ???? - ?????????????? Toucan W ????? ????????? ????????

which is Russian

There are also some earlier posts on this thread that discuss the matter

I also had a problem connecting to the internet after editing the build.prop. I was also using 2.2.5, but I did not follow your instructions exactly. Instead of editing the original build.prop, I copied the original and replaced it with an edited copy. I don't know if that made the difference or not.

The only way I was able to restore internet access was to upgrade the system to 2.3.

I also tried the permissions folder trick on both firmwares and had no problems, so it must be the build.prop trick that caused the internet problem.

Hi cajen, regarding to your different procedure for fingerprint trick, I think that it's the same thing
(in fact, you must consider that, even if in my video I edited original build.prop, instead during my trials
I used an edited copy of it).
In the next days I will update my firmware to latest release (20120111) and I will make my tests...

Default Alternative procedure for Permissions and Fingerprint trick

Hi retspan, ziczac, cajen and everyone...
I updated my firmware to latest 20120111 release and after various trials,
I have found the solution for a correct upgrade of permissions folder and
fingerprint, also on ATV1000 with 2.3.4 release.

Pratically, using the same "permissions" folder and fingerprint line, we must
follow a different procedure...

First of all we must go to ---> Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage applications
---> All ---> GoogleServicesFramework ---> Clear data and Force stop (back) --->
Market ---> Clear cache and Force stop ---> (back home)

Then we enter Rootexplorer ---> go to: /mnt/sda/sda1 and copy "full_permissions" folder
from pendrive (long press on left click) ---> go back to: /system/etc ---> click on "Mount R/W"
---> rename original "permissions" folder (for example to: permissions_backup) --->
paste "full_permissions" and rename it to "permissions" ---> give same attributes of original folder
---> (back to the root)

Now we edit build.prop and change original fingerprint line:

so, we go to: /system ---> we open build.prop using text editor (long left click on file)
---> delete original fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=MBX/stvm3/stvm3:2.3.4/20111212/20111212.163332:user/test-keys

and insert new fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/htc_mecha/mecha:2.3.4/GRJ22/206244.9:user/release-keys

(automatically, a backup copy of build.prop will be created)

Remaining in: /system ---> we enter "app" folder and (temporarily) uninstall GoogleServicesFramework.apk
(we can do that renaming it, as for example, to: GoogleServicesFramework.apk1 ...if we check and go to:
Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage applications ---> All
we don't find the application)
then rename again: GoogleServicesFramework.apk1 to GoogleServicesFramework.apk ---> (back home)
(This last passage makes the difference and resolves all difficulties with internet connection)

At this point, we reboot device, enter Market, insert our Google account and a more
complete Market will be there for us!!
So we will find missing apps like facebook, tweetdeck and more...

Referring to everyone would try this method, I can say that I'm not responsable for everything could happen
(I suggest a previous backup of data and apps)

In the next days, I will make a video guide, to show visually all passages

Edit:
For more working apps, you must add this missing file: com.google.android.maps.jar
to "framework" folder in: /system/framework and change its permissions to rw-r-r

For more compatibility, I suggest to use this fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/htc_mecha/mecha:2.3.4/GRJ22/206244.9:user/release-keys
(if you have a 2.2 "froyo" firmware release)

and this fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion:2.3.4/GRJ22/121341:user/release-keys
(if you have a 2.3 "gingerbread" firmware release)

More fingerprint lines here: Google Nexus One - OpenGL ES performance and system information
(go to --> "Browse the GLBenchmark"--> choose your device --> (ok) --> "System Information" -->
scroll down to --> "android.os.Build.Fingerprint" --> choose your fingerprint line to test)

If your market release is 3.4.4 or superior, you must remove this file: android.hardware.nfc.xml
from "permissions" folder in: /system/etc

Thanks, but I was actually after a link to the original Geniatech tweaked FLASH 10.2 code, in-case I need to back out the flash 11 code.
I'm prepared to give the Flash 11 upgrade a try, as per atters72 suggestions, but want a get-out-of-jail in case I am not happy with the results.

gio, hi! one question. i bougjt another notonlytv android box. so far, all is going ok. but i have two questions. one-on my first box, i was able to connect it to pc monitor via DVI-hdmi cable, and that worked ok. now, with this new, i can only get picture via hdmi connector. is that ok or not.
but, my second question matters more to me. i have tweetdeck on sd card, and when i try to install it i says "installation not completed-it is incompatible with device". will this "permissions fix" fix that incompatibility? i must say that i didnt try to searchit trough market, only direct access to .apk file.
thanks!!

EDIT:
i done "permissions fix", i get FB, TW and other apps, but tweetdeck does'nt work. so, can anybody confirm that tweetdeck works or not (no matther before or after permissions fix).

thanks!

Hi vikidroid, regarding your first question, I can't give any answer because I have never tried
to connect via DVI-HDMI cable...
Instead, for your second question, I can confirm that if you add "full_permissions" folder
(following my last videoguide), you will fix incompatibility with tweetdeck...

hi gio!
dvi - later. maybe somebody will know. i dont have monitor with both connectors, so i must look at pc in one room and second floor, and google box is downstaris on big lcd. so, i must run up and down. ;-)

apropos tweetdeck. i done all as described in latest video. i changed that one row in video from yesterday - alternative procedure (LINK).
but in first video with two procedures, in first You didn't change anything in system files (LINK).
maybe that is problem? i get tweetdeck, it starts, i sign in my account (i use it on pc also), but than it crashes.
any idea?
thx!

EDIT:
tried with original and changed build.prop file still nothing. tweetdeck install ok, start ok, i enter my twiter data, press ok, and in that moment it crashes. android is 2.3.4, from "update20111102.zip", with no added applications and rooted from the beginning.

for now, it seems that i must try with some other firmware, or wait for 4.x

Effectively, regarding to tweetdeck, I had only tried to download and install it (and everything went ok)...
I didn't try to register, because I had not a twitter account.
For testing your issue, i have created a twitter account and I have entered tweetdeck...
I could register and sign without problems, but when I tried to click on news, the application crashed.
I can go further forward than you (my release is latest 20120111), but there is something,
in our actual firmware, that causes this interruption...

Edit: I have found the solution!!
We must add this missing file: com.google.android.maps.jar
to "framework" folder in: /system/framework
and change its permissions to rw-r-r

Let me know...

Hi vikidroid, I made some researches in web...nothing more!
Instead, regarding to crashes using camera app, I can't say anything because I have not a webcam compatible to ATV1000...rather you should check if your ordered webcam has right features.
You can look at this official pdf, by Geniatech:
http://www.geniatech.com/news/newsletter/Geniatech-Android-2.3-upgrading-instruction.pdf
This is the text:
"We have confirmed several kinds of camera & microphone which VID PID is
oc45, 62f1 and 046d,0825 (no need driver on pc) can work on Geniatech Enjoy Box.
You can connect your camera & microphone to pc, and go to device manager to check
the VID PID. If your VID PID is the same as below, we can sure it will work."

heh, at least, you get a picture from camera. i tryed three different models and nothing. i received a letter from customer care, and they recommended "Logitech C270". i'll send a mail if it works.

i know about this list (web-cams and 3g sticks). and, of course, all i tryed doesn't match to these specs. i hope that my new cammera will arrive in day or two. they recommended me Logitech C270. we'll see.

i'll wrote few words if it works.

gio, one more thing. not about cams, cables and apps. ;-)

is it possible to make a full backup of rom? on my android phones, i have installed "rom manager", clockworkmod recovery image, and after reboot, i can make full backup. in case of total brekadown or bad custom rom, it is easy to restore all to "before" state. how about this android box? i know about backuping downloaded apps, but, that is not what i'm interested.
THX!

hi all, im new here. I got a ATV1000 with the ff info:
android: 2.2.5.
uboot: 1.3.4(20110621.175140)
recovery: 1.2.5(20110620.141358)
Kernel: 2.6.34 v1.2.7-23-gd19a11d(20110804.151721)
Build: DTV.20110804.153911

I would like to upgrade so to have a working market, flash and youtube. I had been reading through the forum and had manage do download some files. I'm certain there are some files I might not able to download (megaupload is down).

So far here are the files I got (all zip files):
20110907SPI
update_spi_all_2.2
update_spi20111028_all_2.3
update_spi20111102

update20110804 (this is the one I just did to update my build)
update20111102
update20111117
update20111130
update20111228
update20120111

I kept on reading update09xx but I just cant find a downloadable copy.

Can anybody possibly guide me what I need to do to upgrade and have market, youtube and flash? Not necessarily be on the latest build or android version.

thanks

Hi,
there is a line in the file build.prop about the screen lock, I've changed it But nothing happens, just appears the line to set the lock time in the settings page, but doesnt works.
I was searching also for a screensaver, to activate when there ois not a movie player active... but i found nothing...

I found if you use the remote which is coming with the ATV1100 device, there is a switch off button on it. So, if you push it, the regular Switch off window appears, so you can choose StandBy or Power OFF, Reboot.

But I use this one: Geniatech ATV510 Android 4.0 Media Player | CNXSoft – Embedded Software Development

AirRemote.... which does not have switch off button..... strange.

btw, the screen saver function definitely needed.
I'll try this one, if I could find the .apk file.... :P

Hi vikidroid, I think that it should be possible...but, I have never tried it (and neither read inside our forum).
So, I don't know if apps such as rom manager or clockworkmod could be, eventually, the right ones to make
a full backup of our rom...but, actually, I would like to deepen better!!

hi... anybody can help for my problem?
Geniatech Enjoy TV

can i do update20111102 directly without passing through 20110909?

should I do a 20110907SPI or update_spi_all_2.2 or update_spi20111102 without before doing the update20111102?

You must do 20110907SPI and update_20110907 before doing update_spi20111102 and update20111102.

I also could not find a working link to update_20110907, but I think http://www.geniatech.com/down-eng/Androidtvbox/update_eng_0916.zip
is the same and will work. If you are not sure about trying this update, you could contact Geniatech at support@geniatech.com. They may be able to help you get update_20110907.

got the update_eng_0916 as you provided, and now I'm under build 20110916. Compared to the previous 20110804, this one does not have ability to change screen to 1080p. It only stick to 720. And my uboot is still 1.3.4. Guess I still have to do 20110907spi.

Question... just in case... which one should go first? spi first or update first?

Spi definitely comes first. It is the one with uboot and recovery images.

as far i know, those apps are maded just for that. but, problem is because there is no clockwork for our box. your's video guide is ok, but that is for apps and settings (titanium backup is also good for that). but it will be good that is possible to make full image once and next time after reset we'll don'd need to do those tweaks with permissions and so on.
i'm not sure how they make those "update.img" or "update.zip" files for updating system.

i done it without 0909. i had 2.2.5 out of the box, updated it first with 512spi.zip, after that SPI-2.2all.zip, then imediatelly SPI-2.3all.zip, after that "update20111102.zip". after that i started to build system. there is, as gio said and few more guys, firmware from 2012 year, but i didn't get it yet. i do not have any problems, all is working. plus those little tweaks form gio. but, even you do not do those tweaks, all will be workin' good.

I'm done with the 512F.zip, now my problem is how to update to spi_2.2all because the remote nor a usb keyboard wont move the cursor or let me choose option 3 under the recovery... im now stuck

I don't know if it helps you, but I had the same issue when I did mine, and in my case it was worst because I had a wireless mouse/keyboard with the wireless dongle in the USB.
I found that it took several attempts and reboots with the dongle connected at boot time and eventually if I was quick enough the up/down arrow keys would work.
You may want to try reboots with the keyboard connected and as soon as the system get to the menu try pressing one of the buttons you need. Hopefully on one occasion it will work.
As I say it worked for me, but can't guarantee it will for you.

Good luck

meggiedude wrote you solution. in a matther of fact, that is common state. from some reason, sometimes wireless KB doesn't react when update is done. so, you must find some wireless mouse or keyboard or just try with plain, wired mouse. it's enough to scrool wheel is working and left button.

today i received my new webcam, logitech c270. first i booted with plugged camera. nothing happens. native camera application crashes after clicking on upper-right corner icon. plug out, reboot w/o camera. plug after booting up, still nothing. i'm trying it on PC, all is ok, works w/o drivers.
back to google box. install camera fx. camera wake up, picture is ok, but when i try to take a snapshot-nothing. application crashes. must do reboot. every time. uninstall. installing camera 360, picture still ok, even skype shows video, but it turn it off after 10 sec from some reason. as i momentaly don't have any android device with front camera, i presume that is reason why is picture in skype poor. hans, also, same thing here.
i presume that when real video call is started that all be ok.
but, taking pictures still doesn't work.
uninstall camera360, and find some "quick picture" (i'm not sure is this real name-it's all mixed up in my head). now i have this situation. skype works, picture still bad, taking snapshots works, but all in vertical orientation. it can't be streched/changed to landscape.

at the end. camera works. but with external application. internal app crashes. probably missing some framework .jar file, as gio founded earlier for tweetdeck. now i'll try to find some better camera application.

question of screensaver still active!

i'm not sure how they make those "update.img" or "update.zip" files for updating system.
Let's hope in a next future, when (with a new compatible app)
we will be able to create, directly, a backup file image...
Surely that's not impossible...

i think that such devices are not so popular, and clocworkmod crew doesn't have need to do customizing. we'll se in future...

I've been looking around - seems that this BBC - iPlayer Message Board - Archived threads - xbmc iplayer plugin is why the flash player 10.2 doesn't work with iPlayer etc. The BBC have added SWF verification to their iPlayer streams. How to get around this I don't know, but I have a feeling unless Geniatech do something these devices will never support iPlayer.

Default Enjoy TV ATV1000 for sale w/ 16g SD, BlueTooth Adaptor, and HDMI to Composite Video Convertor

I have a MyGica Enjoy TV ATV1000 for sale. Barely used and is in mint condition. I am tired of waiting on a valid/certified version of ICS and am migrating to a HTPC instead. I have upgraded the Android OS from 2.2 to 2.3.4. This ATV1000 has 512mb RAM and supports Flash Player 10.3. I am including a 16gb SD card, a Bluetooth usb adaptor, and a HDMI to Composite Video convertor. I was using the ATV1000 with a small projector that only had analog input (no HDMI or component video) so I bought the convertor to get by until I upgraded my projector system. I have been using the bluetooth adaptor to send audio to a iPhone/iPod wireless dock speaker system. The bluetooth adaptor is not in the attached pictures. I am asking $150 firm for everything with payment by paypal only and buyer pays shipping cost (can determine after I know your location). I can send you full scale pictures by email. PM me and we can talk by email if you are interested.
