Hi,

I'm building android and kernel from sources, I don't repack kernel images. However, attached is zip file for unpacking/repacking uImages for Amlogic kernel images.

Thanks a lot it worked.
But this doesn't unpack aml_logo.img (is this just an picture ?), nor ubootwhole.img.

In the unpacked files of boot.img, is there anything I can edit in the files : Image, Image-ext, Initramfs-cpio with any script or are they compiled binaries ?

I hope that editing init.rc to make a specific network mount, and activate bluetooth will work. I'll give it a try.

Thanks

@chrisdroid33:
In order to mount network shares at boot, just do a .sh script on the sdcard, and use Smanager to run script at boot it works perfectly fine for me !

After unpacking uImage or boot.img, initramfs folder is created. Inside it you have init.rc

aml_logo.img is just bitmap picture.

ubootwhole.img is not part of kernel image. In ubootwhole should be recovery system and bootenv arguments.

Hi stane1983

I put this post :

Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

I don't know if you saw it or not
so if you can help us by just putting the old driver of wireless in the last test firmware 20120905_Android_ICS-ATV-108-f16ref-test.zip and try to let Ethernet work, or just put the driver of the external HDD in 20120625_Android_ICS-ATV-108-f16ref to stop dropping and disconnecting it from the last firmware, if you can do this it will be a GREAT HELP.
thank you again

Took me alot of time to figure out what was what. I wanted to flash my firmware coz I had problem with apps that needed the box to be rooted. After alot of reasearch i came across this thread. So I went on to download sdtools and firmware from this page http://downloads.v-play.com.hr/
The SD card can be written with XPmode on win7, but you will need an external cardreader since xpmode cant handle internal readers in laptops. Once the the sdcard has been written with sdtools and the correct binfile i closed down xpmode and copied the files from firmware package onto the sdcard.
sdtools - Makes a hidden partition with the booting system(bin-file) for the tv box to start its bootup. if anything wrong with the hidden partition and/or the bin file used, the box just gives you the total black screen and does nothing. Then you should try another firmware and bin file. I tried all the files from this page http://downloads.v-play.com.hr/ and all gave black screen on my box. Then started to try others and finally I came across the firmware on this site and that worked for me, it is ICS 4.0.4 http://lctrading.hk/download/GV-13/GV-13%20%20M3-0802_11349.rar
Reset button is inside audio jack. Hold it in while inserting powerjack to start boot prosess into maintenance mode. If screeen remains black while you try to boot, there is something wrong with SDcard, most likely wrong binfile used.
My only problem now is that this firmware is not rooted so I am back to square one again. Anyone knows how to root this firmware?
Here are some pictures of my box GV-13

Thanks

Hi XInt, Go to V-Play-download site and download 20120807_Android_ICS-ATV-108-f16ref.zip. You will get two zipped files inside it. Just update with new_patch.zip (transfer to any normal sdcard) and your box will be rooted. For updating use maintenance mode with the hidden switch pressed for a while. Hope, this helps.

I would appreciate it if someone could help me.
I have unpacked initramfs.cpio using the following:
cpio -i -d -H newc --no-absolute-filenames < initramfs.cpio

How can I repack the files to initramfs.cpio once I'm done with the files?
Thank you

Default USB support

hi
on the energy sistem box the USB support is started with the default launcher.
replacing the default launcher with any of the droid market does not start the USB support anymore (no USB keyboard, mouse...)
there is nothing different in the running process list (ps)
there is nothing different in the modules launched (lsmod)
i dont know where to search now : where is this USB support hidden !?
does anyone know how it works ?
thanks

USB support starts on kernel level. First that crosses my mind is that USB drivers are not built in into kernel but they exists as modules (usbcore.ko, usbhid.ko...) and that default launcher loads it (insmod's it). Try to find these files in your filesystem... if you find them I'm pretty sure that's the case.

EDIT: Or they modified android sources so badly that only their launcher enables USB support which is actually possible.

Hi Stane1983
I've used your unpack-uimage.sh to unpack my BOOT.IMG but when trying to repack I get:

Making uImage
Dir. 'arm' not found

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? probably I'm missing something in the command line?
This is the modified files which I need to repack to BOOT.IMG:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21276816/boot.zip
Please help me with this.
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have a c03ref model in use and I'd like to replace it with a better one (dual core probably). Can someone point me to a good one on DX to replace that one ? I'd like to keep using Stane firms so I was thinking on AML8726MX chip, but not sure which one is on DX or if I can buy another model as good as it is a dual core at least.... any suggestions please ?

Thanks.

thanks for tour feedback.
i only have 3 modules (.ko)
mali.ko
ump.ko
and 8192cu.ko in /system/lib

i tried insmod 8192.ko but this didnt start any USB support.
the mali module is for graphics I guess
what about UMP ?

i saw some folders called usbhid, maybe usbcore... with subfolders named module but there is no .ko files...

strange...

EDIT :
Now I'm just thinking about launching the new luancher from a script.
The call should look like this :
i believe we could make with a call looking like this :
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.launcher/.Launcher

But does anyone =know how to get the right parameter (com.android.launcher/.Launcher) for a given application ?

Hi,

Download SignTool and install it. Open update.zip of firmware to which you want to downgrade with WinZip, WinRar or similar utility.

Inside update.zip, navigate to META-INF/com/google/android and edit updater-script file (I recommend to use Notepad++). In this file you will find line similar to:
Code:
assert(!less_than_int(1345638370, getprop("ro.build.date.utc")));
Remove that line and replace updater-script file inside update.zip.

From within Windows Explorer, right click on update.zip and choose Sign with SignTool. Your update.zip will be automatically resigned and ready to be installed.

SignTool is made by me, it's virus free and it do have installer. Also, icon of SignTool will be placed on Desktop after installing so you can run it and manually select file to sign.

Hi guys, thanks to all of you, especially to stane1983. I put my device up to work again using 20120905_Android_ICS-ATV-108-f16ref-test and all things are OK "except" two small issues.

1) I got one small issue with wifi, where I need to turn off and turn on again unplugging the power cord! Well I mean this thing it is not a big problem because we know how to solve and these devices can stay on all day ON

2) I cant put NetFlix up to work. I already try several times download from google play or install manually from an apk... and it is not working. For a few times I get a parcial black screen or a message saying netflix is not working unfortunatly or application is not answering. I already try with all these files https://www.dropbox.com/sh/p1x6urztceodq8l/O6QjLZhin4

Anyone know what can I do to solve netflix case?

Stane, you will continue to release firmware for the members of the forum?

I ask because I saw on their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/vplay.com.hr several updates and information that you will no longer provide support for equipment that was not purchased with you.

Hi to all,

you may see that I'm less and less on the forums. V-Play project stepped into commercial stage. Because of copying/steeling ideas and solutions from other OEMs in region, we decided to close down download section.

I don't regret any minute spend on making firmwares for you guys. Now, as V-Play is commercial project, lot of work has been put into (if you notice Android version on the picture - you ever saw M3 Amlogic device with JellyBean on it (not being CM10)?) and now it starts to be something that I will live of.

V-Play downloading section is closed permanently, old firmware versions as I can see are not so hard to find via google and guys who uploaded it to various download sites...

At the moment, I don't know what to say anymore.

Regards,
Stane1983

Hi all, I have a problem with my MBX DVBT C03ref - google TV, upgrade to the ROM (Android 4.0.4 - Google Android 4.0 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 WiFi HD 1080P HDMI Internet TV Box Black Older Version (c03ref)), worked but does not recognize the SD card. I could not recover the previous version so you intale another ROM which is working now, but still does not work with the SD card.
I can help with this problem, thanks.

PS
I don't know how often I'll be back so a tip before I go. If something is not working on your unit (wifi, the ethernet, et cetera) that you believe is software but something that is known to work with the software you are using... if you reflash the device it should fix it.

Android Full HD 1080P Media Player w/ USB/SD/HDMI/RJ45 Ports - Black (2 x AAA) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

I just bought that, and am wondering if it is easy to upgrade it to the newer android version, or if it is a PITA to do.

Default short question

hello people,

sorry for my bad english but, im from germany. I have version f16ref and a problem, I have a google Android box with A9 processor. Android is very slow, it opens the browser is slow and otherwise very delayed.

Is there any way faster firmware or even a fast Windows or earlier, faster version of Andoid install? About your help I would be very grateful.

Default c03ref

What's the latest version for c03ref?
I have 20120826_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref but there should be a new one, I'm still having issues with the internal microphone.
Latest firmware from Visson has too old versions, but mic works.
Anyone having the same issue?
by the way, USB microphone works fine.
