Default Trouble importing data from .csv file

Hi, I'm relatively new to App Inventor and I need to pass in some data from a .csv file into my project and manipulate it. I'm aware that I may need some function along the lines of 'list from csv row' but I'm unsure how to use it.

Thanks.

Default Trouble importing data from .csv file

You must use list from csv row if the data is on one line
Use list from csv table if it is on more than one line
The data will be stored in a list. The easiest example of getting the data out of the list when list form csv row is used is with select list item. If the second item in a list called address is the street, then select list item 2 would give something like '231 Oak Alley Dr.'. For tables the select list item would get the row of data, then another select list item would get the specific data on the row.

hey there !
I'm pretty new to AppInventor too.
I would like to read from a csv file located on the SD card.
To do that I am using the Activity Starter and AndExplorer, that let me pick the csv file I need to extract the data from.

Unfortunately I fail to extract the data in a list (list from csv table).
PS: I however succeed to do it with the Web.Get function ...
That's why it's confusing me A LOT.
Maybe I miss the right method to pass data from the Activity Starter to the app core.

Would you guys have a clue to achieve this ?

Thanks in advance

Hi slycorp!
The blocks on my Google Group example should work for what you need. I was getting my data from my web site, you would just have the blocks access the SD card instead.

thank you Scott
Are you sure that the WebGet function works with local address (URI such as ///sdcard/pathway/file.csv) ?

Andrew1991, this should meet your needs. It will allow you to store the csv data into a list by putting the result value into the list with list from csv row or list from csv table. The example shows how to name the file to import on the sdcard:
