Encodes contacts, bookmarks, applications, calendar events and free text
QR Droid lists your contacts, bookmarks, applications and lets you browse or search them. After you select an item, you can choose exactly what information to encode and/or edit any info without changing anything in your real contact.
Decodes images saved in your device or from URLs of QR images. It decodes from camera too if Barcode Scanner is present
It allows you to shorten a long URL before encoding it. If a QR code has less information, more readers will be able to decode it
Generates and decodes QR images in less than half a second
Integrates with Browser, Gallery, Contacts, 3rd party file-explorers and more to encode and decode. For example, you can open an image in Browser or Gallery, select "Share" > "Decode with QR Droid". Or choose a contact, select "Share" > "QR Droid" and choose exactly what info of that contact to encode
Requirements:
Android 2.0 or greater

This video doesn't show all features of QR Droid. It just show a tip on how to read QR images shown in Android browser, since you can't scan your own screen Scan a QR image from Android Browser
This is to let you know version 2.2 of "QR Droid - Generator - Decoder" has been released with these new features:
- App-to-SD supported on Android Froyo (2.2) and above
- Saves preferred image size when generating QR codes
Besides that: This app lets you browse and search all your contacts and bookmarks, so you can easily pick one to edit and share with a QR code. To make that possible, it requires access to Contacts and Bookmarks, that are shown in Android as "Your Personal Information".
We've noticed some people are concerned about granting this permission. That's why a new app has been released: "QR Droid Private". That's exactly the same as "QR Droid - Generator - Decoder", except it removes features that use those permissions, so it does not ask for them.
In fact, this is a less-featured app, but people can be more relaxed about their privacy.
"QR Droid" has just reached 120.000 downloads after 35 days it was released in the Market, and growing fast We want to thank you for this support.
We have just started developing for Android 1 and a half months ago and this will certainly motivate us to continue improving our only two apps and developing new ones.
As always, please leave your comments and suggestions to help us improve our free apps.
Regards,
DroidLa

Reason: New stats

• Now, UI is written in 6 languages: English, Spanish, Russian, German, Danish and French
When we released QR Droid last December the 8th, we hoped it would become some day one of the most downloaded apps in Android Market. However, we didn’t expect to reach this first great milestone so soon!
We want to thank you all for using QR Droid and, specially, for recommending it to your friends. Without that, it would be impossible to reach this threshold so fast, since we depend exclusively on this as our marketing system.
Hello ! QR droid is really usefull, and use it all the time.
I was wondering if you planed the support of other barcode format, or if you'd stick to the qr code ?
Right now, i have other apps to read other barcodes, and it's a pain in the a**.
One App to rule them all, One App to find them,
One App to bring them all and in the darkness... well, you get the drill !
