Man this was the best $2.99 I have spent on anything in a long time. Does exactly what I was looking for. I have been making and receiving calls over wifi all day. At first, the person on the other end said they heard an echo. I played around with the microphone gain setting and now it's all good. Great app!!!

Thanks! Glad the gain settings helped you. Just curious, what kind of phone are you using? And can you tell me what values you used for the mic gain / speaker volume. Trying to build up a list of recommended values for phones.

I'm using a Mytouch 3G thats running GingerYoshi RC7. My speaker volume is set at 0. Mic gain is -13
This is an update for the post I did earlier about Sprint-Google voice integration and Groove IP functionality. Well I played for a while with Groove IP using my sprint number as the google voice number. It worked. But I noticed that when the Groove IP app wasnt actived I would not recieve any calls. The problem is that I have to select forward calls to Google Chat only in order for Groove IP to work, and since my sprint and google voice number where the same if I do not select the option forward calls to my sprint number (even though they were the same number) when not using GrooveIP, I will not be receiving any calls to my phone. So every time I would like to not use GrooveIP I would have to connect online and change the googlevoice settings in order to receive the calls directly to my sprint number. It is too much trouble.
Another thing I notice is that everytime I exited the GrooveIP app and later started it again, my contacts would receive an email inviting them to use google services. One of my contacts notified me that he received 17 emails from my email address just in one hour, the same email everytime. Apparently the app does it automatically and its very annoying. I dont want to overload my friends emails with requests. I dont know if the developer is aware of this, but he should take a look in to it.
So my effort to be able to receive calls through WiFi in my home, where I dont have any sprint signal, was a total waste of time. I decided to definitely not use the app, so I wasted $3.99.

Dude, we don't send any emails. I wouldn't even know how to do that with the app. I don't know if that's something because of the sprint integration, but my guess is the email is coming from Google.
You can try having calls forwarded to both your google chat and to your sprint number. Both phones will ring when the app is running. If the app isn't running then just your sprint number will ring.

Well I really don't know, but I tried it numerous times and every time I exited and then activated again the grooveIp app it sent an email to my contacts.
I also tried forwarding calls to google chat and sprint number at the same time. When I receive a call, it comes first through grooveIp, I tried answer it with grooveip but it didnt work. Couple of seconds later, the phone would ring again but this time is through the sprint network. So selecting both option of forwarding calls didnt work with groove ip.

I'll add a setting to ignore incoming calls (someone already suggested it, so it's on our list) if that would help. Can't really do much about the emails, don't believe we're generating them.
- Fix DTMF digits not detected when in a call
- Add a configuration change Google Chat status
- Proximity sensor support to turn off screen when held to face
- Add new settings in troubleshooting to fix call quality on some phones (If you have stuttering/choppy voice try the new Audio Processing settings)
- Integrate with native call log
- Register as a dialer, clicking on a phone number will now list GrooVe IP as a dialer option
If you were having the choppy voice issue then try the new Audio Processing settings. If you had choppy voice incoming then enable Incoming Audio Processing. If you had choppy voice outgoing then enable Outgoing Audio Processing. For the LG Optimus, make sure that Audio Routing Hack is OFF before enabling those two settings.

This update fixed all my problems tested it on my HTC Incredible and my HTC ThunderBolt. Keep up the good work.
I am using wifi and I'm logged out of gmail/voice too.
Have you logged into google voice and changed the call forwarding settings? In the voice settings there are checkboxes on where to forward calls. You need to check Google Chat. Are you using an @gmail.com email address as the username?

The only box I have checked off is chat and I am not using the @gmail.com.
When I try to dial a call, I get a message "Not currently registered with GV"
yet I do have a GV phone #.

That message means that the app hasn't been able to log in to google voice using the username and password you put in. Generally the cause of that is either the username or password entered are incorrect. But I've also heard one person say they weren't able to get the app to register when they had a yahoo email address that was registered for google voice. That's why I asked if the email you registered to google voice with was a gmail one or some other type.

Yes, its a gmail address. I know it's the correct username and p/w because I've been using the same credentials to successfully log in to GV today as well.

The only thing I can think of then is maybe it's a firewall issue. I can get you the ports we use. Just curious, what kind of phone are you using?
I can't get incoming calls to my phone at all, I am on WiFi, not logged into gmail, or Gv, I even created a new GV account with a new number, and it don't work.
I understand that this is an awesome concept and I am really interested in getting it. But I think at this price I will think about it and maybe wait for an alternative.
Just think that if this gets featured on engadget etc. You will very likely gets tons of purchases, but a more attractive price would definitely help this be featured etc.

Oh yeah, Optimus V
Have you gone into your Google Voice settings and checked the forward calls to Google Chat checkbox?
Sound always come from speaker even with the Audio Mode Hack on Samsung Intercept. Is there anyway to fix this? Thx
Try the audio routing checkbox also. Since you've tried just the audio mode, try just audio routing. Then try both together and see if any combination fixes it for you. If not let me know and I'll see what we can figure out.

Just checked. I had looked into the Intercept before. It seems to be a common problem on the Intercept with VoIP apps. The only advice I found was someone using csipsimple said to use a different rom. Looks like it's a problem with the Samsung audio drivers. I'll keep looking to see if I can figure anything out.

I hope you consider lowering the price.
Raising the price was a very tough decision for us. We had decided before listing that at a certain number sold we would increase the price. We've put in a great deal of time and effort into the app and hope that people will agree the app is worth the extra $1.
You're using a brand new gv account now? You get no incoming call screen right? Since you have the checkbox checked, my guess is it maybe a firewall issue. I'll find out what ports you should open
I'd like to suggest a limited free version.
I don't really want to spend $4 on an app, that I am not sure that I am really going to use.
-Limited to 60 minutes a month (or something like that)
-All of advanced features to tune it for use on your phone.
-You could remove incoming calls or other features (but this might be more work than it's worth)
At 60 minutes or less a month, it'd still be useful to mess around with. You'd only need to pay for it if you plan on using an excess amount of minutes.
I would imagine this would help spread your app around much faster.

We've been considering it. But at this point we're too busy to create a trial or free version. I completely understand wanting to try something or make sure it's useful to you before paying. But I've got to balance that against the time and effort we've already put in plus adding features and bug fixes to keep the people who have already bought happy. It may take us a few weeks but at some point I think we'll have either a reduced capability version or more likely a timed (10-30 days?) trial version.
Just like the previous user stated, outgoing works fine.
Incoming calls do not work. It does not ring.
I have tried it with both samsung fascinate as well as the lg optimus p509.
Same questions...have you checked the forward calls to Google Chat checkbox in the Google Voice settings? And are you logged out of gmail, gchat, gtalk everywhere else? Even if you have gmail or gtalk on a phone with the same account that can sometimes cause Google Voice to send the call there.

Same answers as others.
Calls are set to be forwarded to google chat in google voice settings. I am not logged in anywhere else.
Regarding gmail on my phone, everyone is logged in to their email on their phone, you need your gmail account to use the market and etc, what do you mean?

I am not logged in to google talk on my phone.
Sorry meant google talk. Are you using WiFi or 3G?
I have even tried being logged in an not logged in on the google voice app on my phone.
Can you try making an incoming call while the app is open on your phone. At least this will tell us if the call is coming in but somehow the incoming screen isn't showing up.
- Fix an issue that was causing choppy voice in the middle of calls on certain phones (LG Optimus)
- Add an autostart option for the app to start when the phone starts
- Add ability to turn off the notification icon

Hi,
Thanks for all the quick responses.
I think i figured it out.
If the google voice number was used with pbex or sipgate, it will not get incoming calls but make outgoing calls.
I tested this by using a fresh new account that was not setup with any pbex or sipgate and it worked.
Just note that there is a wake issue when receiving calls on 3g or wifi.
Hello snrb,
I love this GrooVe IP and I have been using it on a daily basis. I wanted my brother to install the same application on his phone. As he can find the app in the android market but he cannot download it. It is grayed out. Is there any other way that he can download the app. Also snrb, there is another app in the android market for those who cannot download certain applications, it is www.1mobile.com and you can add or request your app to be downloaded to that app market so that those who have restrictions can get a way to download your app. Same thing happened to my brother, he was unable to download Fring app from android market but he was able to download Fring app from 1mobile.com app market without any problems.

I can't seem to figure out how to post an app up there.
I think this platform will prove to be the good start for an international android users and can boost your revenue cuz most of my friends overseas are using this 1mobile.com to download their apps.
Hello,
Could anyone tell me the best possible settings for LG Optimus V like microphone gain settings and troubleshooting settings like incoming and outgoing audio processes needs to be checked, audio routing, audio mode fallback, override STUN server etc. Greatly appreciated for those LG Optimus V users if you have achieved the most optimal settings and would like to share with all other users. Thanks
I live in India and I am unable to download GrooVe IP but I have been using 1mobile to download android application which are not allowed in India. I am reading reviews about GrooVe IP and I am amazed that android users are liking it and it is as simple as A,B,C.....Please GrooVe IP include your android app in 1mobile market. Thanks lgoptimusvm for this good idea.

I'll look into it. Hopefully it shouldn't be too complicated. I want to make sure they let us post updates frequently. Also haven't seen much mention of what type of copy protection or drm they use/provide.
