I'm looking for feedback from any of you. I basically want to know, what do you look for in a keyboard? What might be keeping you from using Ultra? (If you are happy with Swype, don't bother with the feedback... I don't think I can make you happy until I get a gesture mode!)

I love trying different keyboards. I'll try this one out and let you know what I think. I'll only be able to do the 24 hr trial, since I don't buy any apps. One thing I like in a keyboard is the option for secondary keys.

Far as I know, we have a few rooted Eris users that are running it just fine. Try clicking the Ultra Keyboard app icon from your home screen. Then, if the keyboard is not enabled, it will bring you to the "Initial Setup" help section automatically. Read through that and follow the instructions.

If it IS enabled, you're half way there... just long-press on any text field, select "Input Method", and choose Ultra Keyboard Trial.

I kind of stumbled upon this keyboard while trying to find one that -doesn't- do that annoying fullscreen thing in landscape mode. Thanks, dude! You should have that as one of your selling points.

This thing works about as well as HTC and Better Keyboard, too. The menus can be a bit large and convoluted, but aren't too hard to navigate once one understands the logic behind the organization.

One thing I'd like to see for an option to hide the Notification bar when the landscape keyboard is up; we need all the room we can get when using the landscape keyboard. Other than that, just keep working the reaction speeds (the fade-in for the long-presses is a bit slow), and everything is just awesome. Thanks, and good luck for your future Android endeavors.

Hello,

Can you tell me how to get the regular letter keys, like the one displayed in the announcement?

Also, is it possible to use the French dictionnary with the QWERTY keyboard? French canadian do not use the AZERTY keyboard.

Thanks!

My complaint with most keyboards is you lose the arrow keys of the Evo's keyboard. Makes it tough because the HTC's keyboard is ok, but I can easily navigate through text, and replacement keyboards are better but I have to use the touchscreen to navigate. Neither are ideal. So if i could get an iphone like keyboard with the Evo's arrows, i'd drop a few dollars for it.

Hi there I love this keyboard and did the trial but the application force closed about 7-8 times within the 24 hrs and it was very frustrating. I have a HTC Desire, do you have any tips on how to avoid the fc's? its a great app just wish it worked 100% of the time. Looking forward to hearing your advice

The ONLY suggestion I have is some kind of built in prediction or quick-learning system for the Compact QWERTY. As a BlackBerry Storm user, using the touchscreen SureType which was compact QWERTY, was fast learning and came pre-programmed with words.

A few other programs (Better Keyboard, for example) doesn't learn at all, ie. "Hey" will be "Get" or "HRY" and that's not even a custom or slang word! So some kind of Compact QWERTY prediction system with a pre-programmed english / french / whatever language would be absolutely phenominal and put this over-the-top great, in my personal opinion.

This is my only suggestion, otherwise dynamite keyboard.

I agree and that's what makes Swift Keyboard so good.

Read the included documentation to learn how to set up and use this keyboard.

Sorta an older thread but this keyboard is pretty amazing. I am considering buying it after tinkering with the trial. It has everything I wanted and it is more responsive then the default keyboard.

I have also placed a post of the application on my website. www.elite-gen.com

Just noticed this via the VillainRom site. I'm liking my first impressions but I have one request that I wish wish wish someone would implement on a keyboard.

That is the ability to change the letter or symbol of a key. Reason being that I live in the UK and I'm always wanting to use the pound symbol but this normally requires two additional key presses. I don't live in the US and I never have any need to use the $ symbol, so it would make so much more sense if I could just change the secondary function of the f key to give a £ symbol instead of the $.

Is something like this possible or is this somehow hard coded in to Android?

problem / bug (galaxy s2)

with suggestions enabled, the select text handlebars are bugged so it is virtually impossible to drag-select more than 1 word

the little blue handlebars disappear too quickly because the suggestion overrides the drag select function and simply highlights the word

please fix!

otherwise a great keyboard
change the key height in landscape mode for more text space
is google your speech to text provider?

even with that option enabled it does not allow me to bring up search function anymore
