Default android app/rom programming language

Im enrolled with Kaplan for my bachelors degree in IT and deciding on my concentration right now. They came out with a mobile computing degree but I can't tell from the description if it applies to android.

"Study how to develop software applications for mobile and handheld communication devices, including those manufactured by Apple (using Objective C) and Blackberry (using Java)"

Thats the description of the degree focus. Does the android OS use the same language as Apple or the Blackberry to make this concentration worth it? I really dislike apple products and blackberry hasnt ever been my thing so i dont want to learn those as they wouldnt benefit me if the language isnt the same.

Yes, android uses Java. You can also program in C++ if that's your thing. But mostly Java.
