Default Turn by turn navigation with Google Maps - is it possible?

Hi,

I have not seen it done so I believe it is not possible.

But is it possible for an application to use google Maps to navigate like Garmin, Navman and TomTom do?

I know Telenav and Andnav don't use google Maps, but their own maps database.

It is possible .... But it is in Violation of Google's TOS... So and app can NOT currently use google maps for turn-by-turn without the premission of Google ... they may have their own plans for this ????

This one doesn't use Google Maps though. So it won't work in my country.

google wont let you use it for turn by bturn because the people that they get there maps from also sell maps to gps companys, and these people dont want there to be free turn by turn because it takes out of there pocket. However if there is an app Im sure it will cost money. Curently garmen has a gps TBT for other phones. Hopefully it will come to android soon.

Default CoPilot Live Version 8.0

If your looking for a FULLY functioning SatNav application for your Android phone, it has to be ALK Technologies Copilot Live 8. This app is bursting with all the functions that you should be looking for in a SatNav app, but in the convenience of your mobile phone. What's more the version of CoPilot for the iPh*ne (version 7) is rubbish.

I have now been using the application for the last five days and feel it's £25 well spent, check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Hi,

I was just trying these satnav apps for my new android, CoPilot not bad, don't like the huge download; uses all the memory on your phone. its either that or having to change the SD card each time... also i've been using telenav free trial for a couple of weeks now, so far the best i've tried, works great on android platform, easy to use and maps on server, would recommend it

You can use navigation with Google Maps if you set "From" as your current Location and use GPS. When you walk/drive, the map will update accordingly and you will know which way to turn. Not the easiest solution for when driving, but it has helped me out a few times when I got lost.

Yeah well now that Android 2.0 is coming, I'm certain we will have turn by turn navigation in that version from what I've seen.

Just hope it runs on the G1
