Thumbs up Need help with network storage!

Hi,

Myself and a couple of classmates are developing an app that plays videos and displays text. We want to use network storage (a web server) to store the videos, which would be transferred (sorry if its not the right term!) onto the app on request of the user. My problem is that I'm having trouble finding instructions on the best way to set up this server and how to integrate it's use into the application. I was thinking about using a content management system or maybe apache to set up the server, maybe i'm way off base! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

So, if I'm understanding correctly, you have an application that would like to request text and video? do you want to request from an existing website or just a database?

I want to build a website and take the data from that if it makes sense? Would it be possible to build a website using php or html and take the data from them? Sorry, I'm new to all this so i might be making stupid suggestions here!

Yes that makes perfect sense, I just wanted to clarify a little more. Go ahead and build your website and then use an HTML parser which will go to your website and scrape the HTML for videos words links etc, jsoup is one of the best parsers out there. Shoot me a private messages with any other questions.

You may also want to look into building private apis for your website so you can get stuff with no actual parsing being done, however option one has less of aa learning curve, and I know how to do that sonic can be of more help.

Hope this helps
