Default Application start example

Hello everyboy:

I'm new to Android. I'm developing an application, and I would like to include the typical "starter" showing the application name or the company, with some visual effects. Can anyone tell me where to find a source code example?

Thanks!!

Thanks for your replay. I mean an example which shows the title of the application with some animation/effects, while "Loading".

You might want to Google what you want to know as there probably will be a few useful tutorials.

The smart phone is the new pda ... the pda was all about instant-on ... few smart phones can catch up, really ... therefore ...

DO NOT SLOW DOWN USERS
with insanely stupid splash screens!

I'm sorry but it has to be said in no uncertain terms. Trust me, you don't want to do that.

If your app does not load instantly, the solution is NOT to show a splash screen: the solution is to defer loading of parts that are not immediately needed until right before (if!) they are needed.

Question: Who here thinks that splash screens are a good thing?
Question: Who here thinks that splash screens are not usually shown just a tad longer than the app actually needs to load, just for the "advertising effect"?
